通常过了年后，贺岁片还是会继续一段时间，这个时间也是影片受不受欢迎有没有实力的一个考验今天黄昏接到电影公司的票房报告。我们昨天是三部片的单日冠军，超越了长江七号和功夫灌篮。谢谢大家对梁智强作品的支持！这个荣衔是大家共同努力的成果，在强片当前，竞争如此激烈之下，我们还是不负众望。

其实，四天半的新春期间的放映，老师嫁老大的开画票房也破了我个人记录，之前的开画记录都是在万以下，这次的突破绝对是很大的惊喜！当然，下来我们还会不会继续称冠，还有赖大家的继续支持。影片如果有让大家觉得不足的还可以做得更好的，我还是一句话，有建设性的提议，我会感激不尽。一路来我都认真的制作影片，每部电影绝不草率和马虎。感谢大家！

Thank you all for supporting a Jack Neo production! This honour is a result of the hard work from everyone. In the face of such fierce opponents, such stiff competition, we didn't disappoint you all.

Actually, during these 4.5 days of Chinese New Year screening, the premiere of Ah Long Pte Ltd has already broken my personal record. In the past, premiere box office sales were below $700K. This time round, this achievement is definitely a very pleasant surprise to me. But of course moving forward, whether or not we can still hold the No 1 title, will depend on all your support. If my movie still has room for improvement, then I'll have to say, constructive feedbacks, I'll be very grateful for. All this while, I have been very serious about my movie production. Every one of my movies have never been slipshod.

之前是真的蛮担心的。。。

Before that, I was really very worried...

总算过了四天最有意义的农历年。

这几天，到很多戏院去巡视看看，很高兴很多观众都到场支持。
也和一些观众在戏院拜年，也听听很多观众观后给的意见，大家都觉得三部影片都各有特色，我的肯定不是最差！

Finally I've had 4 days of meaningful Chinese New Year.
These few days, I had been going around to quite a few cinemas to observe. Very happy that many audiences were there to show their support. I even exchanged new year wishes and greetings with those audiences and also received a lot of feedback from them. Every one feels that all 3 new year movies have their own characteristic, and I'm definitely not the worst!

一些影评人对我是爱之深责之切，形容词都很伤害性。老实说，我不敢说我的电影是最好，但是，在一路来众多支持者的面前，我绝不拍一部垃圾的电影，我的电影肯定不是正如一些影评人所说的，这是一部垃圾和烂片。

Some movie reviews have a love-hate relationship with me. The words they had used to describe me are really hurtful. I won't dare say my movie is the best, but in view of so many supporters, I will definitely not produce a single rubbish movie. My movie is definitely not like what some reviewers had said, rubbish and atrocious.

我不想说太多，我也不想太过袒护自己，但是我绝对有权利告诉大家，我的每部影片都不是随便拍的。我没有花三年两千万美金的制作费，也没有歌坛巨星一千万美金的制作费，我的制作费是90万美金。还有不是很多，也无法很奢侈的宣传费。我唯一有的就是观众相信我不会乱拍片，谢谢大家的口碑帮助了我这部电影。因为你的口碑，我们排第二（之前一些媒体给我们的排名是三）

I won't say much here, neither will I defend myself too much. However, I definitely have the right to all of you here, that my movie is not made slipshod. I didn't spend 3 years and USD20 million, neither did I have a superstar singer and USD10 million in budgets. My production costs was USD90,000. And of course I had some budgets (although not a lot) for advertising and promotions. And all I have is the believe in me that I won't produce rubbish. Thank you all for your positive word of mouth, and that has helped my movie achieve 2nd place in the box office sales (previously some media had ranked me 3rd place).

还是觉得很庆幸，在一些无理和伤害性的谩骂声中，感谢替我说公道话的人，这批人不断问我一个问题，我很难回答，CJ7有一些我以前影片的桥段，为何那些苛刻的影评人视而不见，功夫灌篮完全抄袭少林足球的概念和桥段，为何影评人没有重点批评反而一而再再而三的针对本地电影。
But I still feel very lucky. In the midst of being slammed and hurt unreasonably, I have to thank those of you who had spoken up for me. And these people keep asking me a question, which I find very hard to answer. CJ7 has some scenes very similar to my old movies, so how come those oppressive movie reviewers didn't seem to notice them. Kung Fu Dunk was a complete rip-off from Shaolin Soccer. So why didn't those movie reviewers pin-point and criticise them, but instead repeatedly aim their criticisms at a local movie.

I really don't know how to answer.

我的作品肯定有不完善的地方，我会在下一部片里多加注意，我还在学习中，我也欢迎任何批评，但是我不会接受不尊敬人家自尊的无理谩骂。

My movie definitely has room for improvements. And I will surely make that extra effort in my next production. I am still learning, and I am also open to all your feedback. However, I will not accept unreasonable and disrespectful insults.

那天和第一批支持我的观众会面

前天4.2.08,7pm,GV 特别安排了一场“先睹为快”场，很高兴，满座了！

让我和Ah Long的全体宣传人员非常雀跃，这几天来，很多不利于我们的报导，在这场戏的放映后终于可以喘一口气。影片结束后，我和爱徒到现场和大家碰面。

这些支持的朋友让我非常感动，很多都是一下班就赶来看这场戏，这是我们和他们面对面的情形。
间中有一些观众提出对影片的意见，非常有建设性，我一定紧记在心。影片的口味是随着很多因素而起变化的，虽然我在新加坡已经拍摄了11部电影，走过漫长的十年，但是并不表示我可以100％满足每个观众，影片要出来之前，我们已经做了很多功课，也让超过数百人看过毛片（就是没有音效的粗剪片），听取意见和修改后才推出，这个过程从来不会草率，我们收集了各路的意见，为影片继续动手术，小的靠剪接调整，大的靠补镜头力求完善，这个过程也是我首次和大家分享，好莱坞也是这样的过程。再次的感激各位的宝贵意见，梁导会继续努力，为国争光。
国煌的幽默已经超越我很多了，这个就是所谓的青出于蓝而胜于蓝，以前我要求自己每五句话一定要让观众爆笑一下，现在他比我厉害，几乎每句话都击中观众的笑穴，一个要当爸爸的人，散发出来的魅力谁也无法挡，这种如虎添翼的能量会持续好一段时间的，这是我的经验之谈，哈哈。。。
你看观众给他逗得乐死了，认识他的人都知道，其实国煌看来很凶，其实他比很多人可爱，和他接触后，你肯定喜欢他，但是，千万不要爱上他，我会很烦咯。。。哈哈

接着我们问观众，如果觉得这部影片真难看就不要举手，好看的话，就给我一个大拇指表示支持，看电影的喜爱是很个人的，谁也影响不了谁，结果，拍照的时候，我们对着镜头摆表情也不知后面发生什么事，从照片上来看，你们找到答案了吗？

要特别强调，这些观众都是自掏腰包每张票还比平时贵两快钱，十块半来看这部戏。真的很感激！还全场爆满！谢谢支持！！
之后，很多粉丝也跟我合照（哈哈，我难得用这个形容词）这把年纪了，还有机会这样的享受，感谢主。

这是我的第11部电影，我搞电影也十年了，总是想弄一些不一样的给观众，希望大家带者轻松的心情去看这部电影，然后上来这里给我留言。

现在，我准备去吃团员饭了，今晚也会和文芳上8频道宣传一些这部电影，在倒数之前的几分钟吧，稍候见！！

每次这个时刻，心情总是很紧张，每个导演都是这样的心情。这部，我的压力很大，因为是另一种风格，另一种尝试，拍了十年，希望给大家一些不一样的。

In another few days, it'll be the Chinese New Year already. And it's also the day when my new movie will hit the cinema screens.
Whenever my movie is abt to hit the screens here, I'll always be very nervous. Every director will feel the same way. This movie has given me a lot of pressure. Because it's of a different approach. It's totally different from my usual style. After 10 years of making movies, I'm hoping to present something different.
For people who have support me all this while, I'm willing to guarantee, for every Jack Neo film, I work on it very sincerely. I hope all of you will watch this movie with an open mind, and then come back here with your feedback.

更享受的是，自己没有演，看别人演。。

我们在看的就是监视器，这个样子的监视器，演员的所有演出就是透过这个监视器来控制灯光和美术的部分。

我还真的担心国煌看不懂海报里面的文字，那他就比阿窿还要BTC了（bo tuck chey没读书）

我的电影马上要开锣了，这里有一些私人珍藏照片和大家一起分享。
这张是老大逃亡的时刻，神色慌张。。。
当演员辛苦的地方就是，不可以怕脏，也不可以担心那个青春痘或者是皮肤敏感，象这样脸贴地的动作，皮肤细嫩的阿姐配合剧情需要，只好躺下。。。这个就是敬业。
看看这张拿枪的摸样，有板有眼的不是简单哦。
这张是，显示国煌的小女人心态，需要老大姐保护咯。
日后看了电影再回来看这张照片就很有感觉了，这就是拍摄现场，很多人在旁边不是空闲没事的，他们是在等我喊cut之后开始动作。。。
看国煌这张吊起来卖的照片，有些人以为很好玩，在半空中，脚不着地的感觉，好像神仙飞天，其实，吊一下子还不错，时间久了，男人都会知道那里最辛苦。。。你看他的表情，已经没有语言了。。。哈哈哈

干嘛裤子盖住头？为了制造一个特效，有时侯在现场是倒着做的，很奇妙是吗。。

这个倒反做，其实刚好把肛门和嘴巴对调了，天啊。。。

拍摄现场的镜头设计，一切都得依赖这份分镜表。。。

也不要忘记了，2月1日，“老师嫁老大”的半夜场开始放映了。

跟着，我受邀到中国河南电视台主持他们的一个春节节目，我就代表新加坡，盛情邀请，非常感动。。。

The biggest challenge while performing in "Lao Fu Zi J Team Live musical" is, apart from co-ordinating with the human dolls, the timing of the artiste's live perform ace with the human doll's recorded lines have to be very accurate. This type of performance to Henry, Michelle & Xing Ang is a very new experience. They manage to create a very good rapport with the human dolls, and it's a very good accomplishment in a very short period of 1 month. On top of that, the artiste's impromptu performance, will create different effects at every performance.

难得全部人一起宣传，为何看到是我和文芳拿刀呢？还有蛋糕哦，其实，这个是电影公司给我和文芳的一个惊喜，她的生日跟我一样（差点透露她的年龄）年份不一样，凑巧的是，月份接近咯，所以电影公司就干脆一不做二不休。。。买了两个蛋糕。。。

It was a rare opportunity to have everyone together to do the promotional events. So why are Fann & me holding knives? And there are cakes also. Actually, that was a surprise for me and Fann from the movie company. Our birthdays are quite close, although different year (and I nearly disclosed her age), but it's in the same month lor. So the movie company decided to kill two birds with one stone… They bought 2 cakes…
真好笑，昨天周董生日会上宣布他的生日，原来我们三个搞演艺的都是在同一个月份生日，难怪从事的都是同样的行业。看我这张和文芳一起吹蜡烛的照片，感触很开心也很伤心，又老了。

不过这次，也是生平第一次可以和美女共同庆祝生日，真的是很别致。。。

Quite funny, yesterday at Jay Chou's birthday party, he announced his birthday. So the 3 of us have our birthdays all in the same month. No wonder we are all in the same line. See this picture of me & Fann blowing the candles. I felt very happy, but yet also very sad. Old already.

But this is also the 1st time I get to celebrate my birthday with such a beauty. It's really very unique…

这次的过年贺岁片很热闹，前一阵子，早报报导，我们的电影预告最吸引人，真的很开心，不过影片还没有正式放映，好坏大家都不知道，不论怎样，只要是好电影，大家都应该支持。

This year's New Year Bonanza is really very lively. In an earlier article by Zao Bao, they reported that our trailer attracted the most attention. Really very happy. 大家好！

看到那么多网友的评语，真的很感谢各位耐心的等待，原本去年12月要上映，结果效果不满意一改再改，就是一定要效果好，不知不觉就改到贺岁档期了，原本还是很高兴，反正贺岁档也是新加坡人全家一起看电影的档期，没想到，另外两个超级牌的巨星也来跟小弟抢生意。

大家都知道那是一场硬仗，这场仗，对我来说有些复杂，负责在后面策划我电影的，也是引进我们劲敌的人，哈哈哈哈，新加坡就是小，小到经常有很多重叠的事情。这些海外来的，都是高姿态，高知名度，一堆粉丝忠心支持。

突然才发现，平时没有成立什么影迷俱乐部，书到用时方恨少。不管怎样，这里有一些照片和大分享一下。

MC King 蓝钦喜

MC King 走了。。。
MC King has just passed away…

今天刚丛吉隆坡回来，新明日报管大妈给了我一个很吓人的问题 " 听说MC King 过世了" 立刻有一股很不祥的感觉。
I just got back from KL today, and Mdm Guan from Shin Min Daily called me up with a very horrifying question. She said "I heard MC King passed away". And I had this very ominous feeling.

于是就立刻到处求证，结果，辉哥打来通报，证实，他真的走了，从来没有看过辉哥如此的伤心跟我说话，语气中不断的哽咽，说话一段一段的。
So I asked around, and Henry Thia rang me to confirm the sad news. MC King has really passed away. Never have I seen Henry talking to me in such a sad manner. He was literally choking with sobs, breaking up between the conversation.

其实现在心情很受影响。。。毕竟他是一个在很多领域合作过的朋友。。。
Actually, I am very affected by the sad news now… After all, MC King is a friend whom I've worked with on many many areas…

就这样走了。很伤心很伤心。。。
Now he's left, just like that. Very very sad…。

MC King 走了。。。

今年才一开头，就送来一个这么大的炸弹给我们的娱乐圈，这个真的是大震撼。很多接到消息的人，几乎都以为我们很过分在开玩笑，其实是很多人听到这样的消息后不敢相信，措手不及，甚至不知道应该如何反应。

写这片文章的时候，我们还不知道他的死因，只是知道他晕倒跌倒送医院，就这样离开了。看到生命如此脆弱，真的很心寒，这次，离开的这个人，是如此的靠近，如此的熟悉，这么多年的老朋友老战友，看着他原本在戏剧组，看他胖胖的样子很可爱，于是邀请他来搞笑行动，后来和李国煌搭档，两人默契十足的表演，还因此获得了老板的垂青特别开了一个节目给他们两“今夜来看我”。这些回忆，一下子都涌上来了。

还是要说一次，真的很突然！真的很措手不及，上次另一个老朋友华亮，发生意外身亡后，也是记者打电话来通知，吓到我在开车一半，差点出车祸，这次同样的是记者，管大妈来求证，我真的是很惊讶这个求证，当我拨打他的电话时，我多希望就是他来接电话，然后听到他的招牌声音“没有啦，他们开玩笑的啦，是谁散播这个谣言”结果，他的电话始终打不通，真的是急得如热锅上的蚂蚁，然后，辉哥来电“confirmed了!MC King走了”，听得出，平时爱开玩笑的辉哥竟然哽咽的说话，可知道这个消息，这个青天霹雳的消息，对我们梁家班的震撼简直就是直击我们的大动脉。。。那一刻，我无法反应。。。

其实，印象中的他，虽然胖了些，但很健康，似乎没有听过他有什么病痛，在饮食方面，他不会乱吃，有时侯，我们还吃得比他更不健康。

真难过，一个对演艺事业那么坚持的同事，就这样走了。我不知道该说什么，希望这个只是一个大家的恶梦，醒来后，

还是可以听到他的招牌笑声和表情动作。

2008 就这样到了，谁也挡不了。

再好的，再坏的，已经通通过去了，我们必须往前看，创造新的未来，才会有更多的惊喜。

对于年轻的朋友，还没有给自己定下目标和方向的，不妨从今天开始给自己一个计划，实际一些的，不要讲爽的，很快到了年底，验收的时候就知道自己完成了什么。还没有完成的，可以再研究一下，已经完成的可以再给自己设定另一个目标。人生就是这样，一步一步的完成所有挑战。

人是要不断改变的，因为世界改变得很厉害，我们没有为自己作出调整，很快就会被淘汰的。人的改变不只是工作和事业，也包括了和家人的关系，伙伴朋友的关系，生活习惯等等。其实最重要的就是自己的改变。

我们常常听到很多别人的坏话，很少听到自己的坏话，不是因为自己很完美而是，属于你的坏话都会被隔绝，没人要告诉你，因为这种报忧不报喜的事，大家都会选择自己顾自己，做好人不要做坏人。

记得，听不到并不表示没有。

在这个新的一年的头一天，我们为自己策划一下计划一下，不要年底验收的时候什么都没有，一年就这样平白过去了。

强片制片厂，我新成立的电影公司已经拟定几部海内外影片的制作方案，应该会是很有趣的一年。今年，我也计划带领梁家班最有实力的艺人闯荡中国，虽然知道不容易，但是一定要做，至少要跨出第一步。

今年的贺岁片马上要登场了，现在戏院看到的那个叫人家不要打电话的是开胃菜而已，正式的片花刚刚完成，这几天应该可以上戏院了，我会在网上让大家先睹为快。

每年的新年，我们的社区都有很好的凝聚力，看看昨晚我们简单又温馨的庆祝方式吧！

So sorry ah my dear friends! I'm back!

红星大奖之后，我就带全家出国，到泰国的清迈度假。

After the Star Awards, I went for a vacation with my whole family to Chiangmai.

然后又开车上吉隆坡三天度小假，很开心。

After that I drove to KL for another 3 day short holiday, so happy.

回来之后，听说我的电影的teaser已经上画了，很开心，听说周星驰的也来了，周杰轮也来了，大家就是要抢贺岁档，真的是几热闹一下。

After I came back, I heard that the teaser for my movie is already up. Very happy. I also heard that Stephen Chow's movie & Jay Chou's movies are in too. Everyone is rushing for the Chinese New Year bonanza. Such lively bustle lor.

很多人告诉我说，梁导，为何要和周星驰等人打硬仗？这样的问法。表面是充满了关怀但实际上也带着看死我们的意味。其实我们选择在农历年上映，理由很简单，因为每个过年我都推出一部我的作品，这部片本来在圣诞节前应该杀出，但是制作上来不及，只好押后，谁知道，这样就回到和顶尖对抗的局面了。

Many people said to me, Director Neo, why do you want to go head on with Stephen Chow and the others? Such a question, on the surface, appears to have show solicitude, but in actual fact, seems to have an air of condescension. Actually we chose to screen it during the Chinese New Year for a very simple reason. Because every year during this period I will screen one of my movies. This movie should have been screened just before Christmas, but due to a delay in the production, we couldn't make it on time, so therefore we had to delay it. But who knows it ends up as a head on clash with the top shots.

你问我信心如何，老实说，我非常相信，负责宣传的星霖云先生已经有一套策略了，不管如何，在自己的地盘上，我们绝对不掉以轻心。

If you ask me abt confidence, frankly speaking, I strongly believe that Mr Yun of Raintree, who is in charge of the publicity, has already got their strategy. However it might turn out, we must be on guard in our own territory.

今天的报纸，很多都是头版不然就是用很显著的版位来报导一个人。
一个，通常上报都给人家臭骂的人。
这个人，我的徒弟，李国煌。

In the news papers today, there were many reports abt a particular person, either placed as headlines or placed in very prominent page.
It's abt a person whom, normally when reported on the newspapers, is being scolded by many many people.
This person, is my disciple, Mark Lee.

看到新加坡博物馆一点都没有嫌弃的大胆御用我这个徒弟当博物馆的探索新加坡的大使，我除了感激就是感动。所以在这里要特别谢谢博物馆领导的破格想法。。。

On seeing that the Singapore Heritage Museum had very boldly used my disciple without prejudice as a discovery of singapore Ambassador, I felt really grateful and touched. So I have to take this opportunity to thank the Museum officials for this exceptional idea…

破格，讲，是很容易的，就是人家不敢做的我们敢敢做，很简单，问题是，最后有勇气挑战这个事情的人有多少？

Exceptional, to say, is very easy. It means that whatever others dare not attempt, we do it boldly, very simple. Bu the problem is, in the end how many people dare to take up this challenge?

博物馆上上下下都是公务员，愿意如此大胆的去想一个可能会害到自己升职加薪的事，这个就是勇气和决心。

Every one in the museum are civil servants. To boldly come up with such an idea that may cost him his career advancement and salary, this really takes a huge amount of courage and determination.

要是我徒弟失败了，想想一下，自己要如何下台，受到很多媒体挑战的时候。。。是很难受的，不习惯的人，心情每分钟受影响，过程跟要上吊之前是异曲同工的。平时大家看报纸，凡是不关自己的，都是娱乐，顶多讲几句同情的话，可当自己变成主角的时候，来自更多的干扰是很烦的，要立场坚定，要坚持到底，要准备承担责任，这种种，的过程对于一些人来说，何必弄自己那么辛苦呢，简单去简单做，做不起，那些古董本来就不容易吸引人的，也不是我们几个人的问题啊。

If my disciple had failed, then think abt it, how is this civil servant going to face everyone. Especially when facing the media's constant queries... It's going to be very embarrassing, and people who are not used to it will be affected by it every single minute. It will feel the same like "before you sentenced to hang". Usually when people read the news papers about articles that have nothing to do with themselves, it'll be treated like entertainment. At most they might shed some sympathy, but when they themselves become the talk of the town, there will be a lot of unncessary attention. They have to learn to stand their grounds, and have much more determination, and shoulder much more responsibility. These entire process, to some people, they wouldn't be bothered to get involved. They would just go ahead and get things done very simply. After all, these antiques were never easy to attract attention. And that had never been just our problems.

这些他们都不理，他们还是做了，冒险了。

They didn't bother about the troubles, they went ahead, and took the risk.

其实单单从 A&P 的角度来说，只是提出来就已经达到效果了，看好像没有什么，但是点子是如何来的，我但是非常有兴趣知道，是谁如此的大胆，是一句开玩笑的话结果成真了还是，已经脑激荡千百回的结果。

Actually, from the A&P point, just by mentioning it would have reaped responses. It may seem like nothing much, but how they came up with the idea, I'm very much interested to know. Who was it so bold to have come up with this idea. Did it start with a joke that materialized, or was it somehing that was brainstormed for a really long time.

要说服最上面的人接受最草根的事，一路来都是这个问题，我们在最草根的位子上，经常就碰到了这样的事，在新加坡，在上面的，很多看事情比较 " 吃马铃薯的 " 因此很多草根的事，你用一辈子去跟他讲还是讲不通的。

To persuade the very top management to accept something so raw, has always been very difficult. I always encounter such experiences. In Singapore, some of the companies "upstair" view things always in " eating potato" way. so if you want them to understand very simple and basic things ,you can waste your entire life explaining and they will never understand .

李国煌经常被人家骂，还好他是喜剧之王，否则他的明成形象，经常给人家判他死刑的，他主持节目华语很烂，到现在，我还是会经常纠正他 24 打出来的成语，但是，从另一个角度看，就是因为这样造就了他与众不同，现在的时代，一板一眼的时代已经变成最大的笑话了，现在找主持人，华语好是一个基本的，但是华语好的人，也要好到自然，如果出来咬字太字正腔圆，听起来很别扭，相信我，绝对是死路一条。

Mark Lee is always scolded by other people, but luckily, he's the king of comedy, otherwise, with his distinct image, he'll always be sentenced to death. When he hosts variety programs, his Chinese is really "koyak" (terrible). Even until now, I still have to correct his horrific combination of Chinese idioms(like buy 4D system bit). But looking at it from a different angle, it's just this that makes him stand out. These days, days of being methodical are so passé and they're now topics of jokes. Variety show hosts these days with a good command of Chinese is a pre-requisite. But people with a good command of Chinese should also be natural. If the pronunciation and accent is too perfect, and it sounds very awkward, then believe me, it'll be a dead end.

博物馆的做法，就是找来了一个争议点，把两个不可能结合一起的，就是故意放在一起，火花自然引爆，宣传效果达到了。

What the museum has done, has created a point of argument. Having a combination of 2 impossibles together, is being done intentionally. With that, a chemical reaction is created, and naturally, it generates publicity.

我要特别感谢博物馆给我的徒弟一个这样大好的翻身机会之外，最重要的是，我希望更多人表扬他们的大胆和破格的做法，不是因为他们用了我的徒弟，而是这个事情本身，就是一个愿意冒险最后成功的事。

I have to thank the Museum for giving my disciple such a good opportunity to stand up for himself, and also very importantly, I do hope more people will applaud their bold and exceptional method of doing things. Not because they used my disciple, but more because this matter itself, was a risk to take and ended with success.

在拍摄 " 我在政府部门的日子 " 的前期，资料搜集的过程中，听到和遇到很多公务员因为害怕犯错结果搞得啼笑皆非的笑话，虽然，跟很多国家比较，我们的公务员制度和效率已经是非常高了，可是还有一些公务员仍然带着多做多错少做少错的心态，今天博物馆的这个例子，应该是很多，不只是政府机构包括私人企业界也可以借景的地方。

When I was preparing to film "Just follow Law", during the process of doing research, I had heard and seen many civil servants making a joke out of themselves just because they were afraid to make mistakes. Although comparing with many other countries, the quality of our civil servants are considered very high. However, there are still many civil servants who still bear the mentality of, the more you do, the more mistakes you make, but the lesser you bother, the lesser you can go wrong. This example with the museum, could set a good example to not only those in the civil service, but also to many private organizations.

很多人看李国煌都是一个角度，其实，李国煌是一个有很多角度让你看的人，和他师徒关系这么久，请相信我，他对演艺是很认真的，随着这个大使的风波，我要借这个机会告诉大家，李国煌的演艺事业其实刚刚才开始而已。

Many people view Mark Lee from only 1 angle. But actually, Mark Lee is a person whom you can view from many different angles. Having been teacher/disciple for so long, I have to take this opportunity to tell all of you, that Mark Lee's career in the entertainment industry has just begun.

有很多你意想不到的，他会慢慢的给你，给你惊喜，让你重新认识他，这个就是 2008 年的李国煌。

There will be many unexpected situations which he will reveal slowly, surprising you. You'll get to know him all over again. This will be the Mark Lee of 2008.

担心一些人忙,错过了他的一些简报，我给你放上去。。。今晚，我会和他有一个小小的庆功宴，怎么讲，特使的身份拿 90分，就是不简单，是 BAND 1 咯！好好的庆祝一下，我今晚会和他来一个对话，今晚回来后我会上传让大家看。

I was concerned that some of you might be busy and possibly missed out some of his news, so I posted them… Tonight, I'll have a small celebration with him. Why so, because his role of ambassador has earned him 90 marks, and it's not easy. It's Band 1 leh! So we must have a good celebration. I'll have a dialogue session with him. And after that, I'll post it here for you guys.

前阵子，和一些老朋友见面，聊天的时候友人提起，我在 1990年时候曾推出一堆（ 16张）搞笑说唱专辑，当时大家都很疯狂很支持我，当年很多人都买了我的搞笑专辑，事隔那么多年后，卡带全都坏了，问我还有存底吗？
Some time back, I met up with some old fri ends. During a chat, my friend mentioned that I had introduced some (16 albums) of Rap songs. At that time, everyone was insane over it and very supportive. That year, many people bought my comedy albums. But after so many years, the cassettes are all spoilt, and someone even asked if I still have the original recordings.

后来回家找了一下，还真的给我找到一些当年的专辑，类似世界杯足球赛的专辑，当年很多人很疯狂的，如果你是当年出世的，距离现在已经17 年了，很难想像。
After that I went back home to search, and I managed to find some of those albums, like those of the world cup albums. Many people were crazy over it at that time. If you were born at that time, then it would have been 17 years already. So hard to imagine!

也有一些网友曾经问我可否把这些歌放上来做纪念，或者让大家回味一下。哈哈，不嫌弃的话就不妨先听听这首当年的主打歌。

梁家班大聚会 Gathering

很难得，安排了好久，终于大家见面了，其实要把全部的艺人集合在一起是很不容易的，大家都在忙着拍戏做节目，这个聚会虽然不容易安排，公司的两位妈妈还是坚持到底安排了。
Such a rare chance, after organizing it for so long, everyone finally gets to meet each other. Actually, trying to gather all the artistes together is really not easy. Everyone is so busy with their filming schedules. And although it really wasn't easy organizing this gathering, 2 very determined mommies in our company still managed to do it.
说他们是妈妈，因为他们负责照顾我们这一大班艺人的行程和通告时间，也包括其他琐琐碎碎的，工作和家里的妈妈没什么两样。怎样？想看他们的样子吗。。。哈哈哈。。。下次给你安排吧。。。让他们自己选美美的照片比较妥当吧。这两位妈妈一个叫Miss Tan 一个叫Angie 。在公司好多年了，很忠于职守，有能力忍受我这性格的人这么多年，哈哈，他们的内功可不是盖的，哈哈。。。
I call them mommies because they are in-charge of looking after this entire group of artistes' schedules and itinerary, as well as other trivial duties. Being a mommy at home and at work is the same. Why? You guys want to see how they look like…? Hahaha… Next time I'll arrange lah… Let them choose their own nice pictures better lah. These 2 mommies, 1 of them is Ms Tan, the other is Angie. They've been with the company for many years already. Very devoted to their duties. They have the ability to tolerate my temperament for so many years, haha, their internal strength is very powerful ah, haha…

我的女儿终于修完O 水准了！

我的大女儿，终于修读完中四O 水准了！身为父母，我和太太受邀出席毕业典礼。My daughter has finally completed her 'O' levels! As parents, my wife and me were invited to attend her graduation ceremony.。

来到这个礼堂，里面充满一种礼堂的气味，让我回想当年我在圣公会中学念书的日子，也是在类似这样的一个礼堂。

Coming to this hall, it's filled with old school-hall atmosphere. Brings back those memories when I was a student at Anglican High, we also had a school hall like this.

这位是她们的校长，上台致词，相当感性和感人，如果我是"就要毕业的同学" ，肯定会被她的话感动，现在的身份虽然只是家长，也感觉到这段致词的内容附带的激励性和人性对即将离去的同学绝对是一个很好的鼓励。

This is the principal, making a speech on the stage. Quite perceptual and touching. If I was an undergrad, I'd sure be moved by her words. Although I'm now a parent, I can still feel that her speech carries morale boosters & humanity to those students who were about to graduate which is definitely a very good form of encouragement.

看看其中的这段话。。。我也被感动。其实在现实生活中，以下的这句话，我们不知道兜兜转转了几百次。同学们也许现在不能理解他的真谛，出来社会之后，慢慢的就会明白了。

Have a look at one of the phrases… I was also very touched. Actually in real life, we may already have experienced it hundreds of times. But perhaps these students may not fully comprehend the true meaning. But when they step out into the working world, they might start to understand it slowly.

毕业典礼上，另外一个意外收获是，竟然有这么多美女啊，上台领奖的，很多都倾国倾城，新加坡演艺圈很缺乏美女，为什么这些才貌双全的人没有走靠近我们呢？为什么现在一大堆的选美赛，来比赛的佳丽，素质一年不如一年，这些美女跑去那里了呢？

At the graduation ceremony, I had another unexpected surprise. I didn't expect to see so many pretty ladies. Those who went on stage to receive their awards were "beautiful enough to overthrow cities and states" (or exceeding beautiful). Singapore's media industry lacks such beauties. So how come these beauties with brains did not come approach us leh? Why out of so many beauty pageants, their standard has dropped, where have all the pretty ones gone leh?

这个就是我的产品我的女儿啦，怎么样？还可以吧？不要怪我为什么照片蒙蒙。。。原因有三，第一，我技术烂，第二，我相机烂，第三，相机和我一起烂，所以，怎么办呢！

更意外的发现是，连女老师，班主任也长得让我非常" 刮目相看" ，你一定会问我，为什么拍美女老师镜头就捕抓得那么清晰，女儿的就拍到" 像雾又像花" 。这个也是相机的问题！就在那个时候，相机自己良心发现了，怎么可以怪我呢？

A bigger discovery I made, even the female teacher and form teacher was also very pretty, making me sit up and take notice. You guys sure ask me, why taking pictures of pretty female teachers so clear and sharp, but pictures of my daughter turn out like 'cloud and flower' (super blur). And this is also the camera's fault! Just at that moment, the camera got stung by conscience, so how can you blame me?

看到这位漂亮的女老师，有朋友竟然来电建议，干脆邀请这位老师也来演电影，支持者肯定会超多的，除了自己学校的同学之外，也许还会有其他学校好奇的同学也来捧场，加上看到新闻之后的教育部官员，然后记者会因为有卖点跟进报导，哈哈，朋友真有意思。。。

On seeing this pretty female teacher, a friend actually rang me up and said, might as well get this teacher to act in my movie. Supporters confirm plenty. Apart from students from her own school, some curious students from other schools might also come show their support.

Plus officers from MOE who might have read the news, and because of the value of the news, reporters will follow up very closely also. HaHaHa, very interesting suggestion from my friend…

毕业典礼上，也应该有一些表演吧，这关舞蹈也编得很出色。

At the graduation ceremony, there should also be some performances. This dance segment was also quite nicely choreographed.

那天心血来潮，家里请了一些好朋友来吃螃蟹，到外面吃太贵了，自己家里佣人会煮，就是方便 Had a sudden impulse the other day, I invited some good friends over to my place for some crabs. Cos going out to eat very expensive lah, and since my maid could cook them, so we just had it conveniently.

In the past, I didn't quite like to take pics. But after that, then I learned to understand and appreciate. Everything has a pretty side and a desired angle. Those of you who don't understand won't be able to see it, and instead will find it just plain.

昨天新明记者访问了我大概8个小时后，副总裁陈国明才来电给我。

8 hours after a reporter from Shin Min Daily interviewed me, VP Paul Chan gave me a call.

一些关心这事情的朋友说看了报章后觉得，文章上的发言只是他把话说清楚和对梁家班和歌台艺人的立场“重新定位”，很像道歉又不是道歉，不是道歉又很像在道歉。 (very the chim)

Some concerned friends said that after reading the article in the newspaper, which reported that he only re-phrased the comparisons between J Team artistes and getai artistes. And it seems like he apologized, but maybe not. But although he didn't apologize, it felt like he did. (very the chim)

我的朋友都相当细腻，觉得这些朋友很可爱，不过我告诉他们，得饶人处且饶人，在一个大机构里，要一个人站出来公开用明显的字眼道歉（sorry、对不起、请包涵、请原谅、这是我的错、毫无保留的道歉）是比较困难的（好像许文远部长那样公开道歉几件事是需要很大勇气的，佩服他！），现在你们明白为什么在我的电影“我在政府部门的日子里”有一段林益民对身为公务员"坚持不道歉"的看法吗？

My friends are all quite classic, and I find them all very cute. But I told them, forgive and forget. In a big organization, for someone to step forward and literally apologize (using the words sorry, pls forgive me, it's my fault etc) would be very difficult (like how minister Khaw Boon Wan publicly apologized for a few incidents, and that really took a lot of courage, which really earned my respect!). So now you know why my movie, "Just Follow Law" has a scene in which Moses Lim, as a civil servant, "insist on not apologizing"?

在政府机构里，用行动来道歉好过用语言来道歉，只要明白人家的方式就可以了。

In a civil service organization, apologizing by means of actions is better than apologizing by words. As long as you understand the way they do it and that's sufficient.

这事已告一个段落，生活还是要继续，jteam仍然会继续发掘各式各样才貌双全的才华型实力派艺人，绝对不会放弃。

This matter has been concluded and life still has to go on. J Team will still continue to scout for beautiful and witty talents. We won't give up.

Suits all roles of a young teenager, acting skills are natural and with ease. She can also cry impromptu. Very sweet look, with a disposition of a Japanese star.

Natalli 爱雯

样子可纯可奸可好可坏，唱歌跳舞非常优秀，身材高度很好，现在17岁，最近到上海出席小孩不笨的首映和记者会，中方记者都非常惊讶她的气质，至少她的出现没让当地记者失望。

Can appear to be pure, wicked, good and bad. Excels in dancing and singing. Proportionate in height and figure, 17 years old this year. Recently, she was in Shanghai for the press conference of I NOT STUPID 2. The Chinese reporters were very surprised by her disposition. At least her appearance did not disappoint those reporters.

Cheryl 陈雪儿

适合演绎各类少女的角色，在小孩不笨1演出娇身惯养的少女非常称职。现在长大了，亭亭玉立的气质很有吸引人的魅力，同时也是我们队伍里的歌舞唱将

Suits most roles for young teenager. Also acted as a rich little girl in I NOT STUPID. Now she's grown up gracefully, with an attractive air of charisma.

在新传媒主持人的选秀节目引起注意，有邻家小女孩的清纯气质，适合傻大姐blur queen的角色本人是很精明的

Was spotted at Mediacorp's Super Host contest. Has the girl-next-door innocent look. Suits roles of blur queen. But she's very bright in person.

Paul Chan 在新报对梁家班的7位艺人作出侮辱性的形容后，这个就是他给我们的解释。

After insulting 7 J Team Artistes, this is the reply from the VP.

看了新传媒品牌和宣传部副总裁陈国明的解释，很多朋友告诉我，这个就是我们这行必须接受和忍受的事实，当惯了王，很容易目空一切的。我解释，新传媒里面的副总裁多数都很谦虚也很有大机构官员的风范，毕竟要升到这个位子，没有智慧是不行的。

After reading the explanation from Mediacorp's VP of branding and promotions, many of my friends told me this is part and parcel of what we have to accept and tolerate if we were to stray in this industry. It's easy to be overly conceited once you are used to being high up on the branch. But my reasoning would be, most of the VPs in Mediacorp are very humble and have the demeanor of high ranking officers in MNCs. After all, without wisdom, you can't make it up to this position.

副总裁侮辱了我的艺人然后叫我不要生气，说他是开玩笑的，还叫我把这事当宣传，在这里我要告诉副总裁，梁家班在电视台以外的活动都有自己的宣传方式，还不需要他来告诉我如何宣传我们的艺人，除非是新传媒的电视节目。

After insulting my artistes, this VP tells me not to get upset, saying it's only a joke. He even tells me to take this as publicity. I'd like to tell this VP here, that outside of Mediacorp, J Team has our own set of publicity activities. Therefore, we don't need him to tell us how to pull off publicity for our artistes. Unless it's a program by Mediacorp.

梁家班和新传媒一路走来少说也有十八年，间中的风风雨雨，我们饮水思源，继续保留同一阵线共同进退，这不是在讨功劳只是要告诉无知的人，我们的奉献，来到今天的关系是经过严格考验的，身为新传媒的合作伙伴，我们互相分享资源、艺人、经验和创意，这种合作关系是很难得的我们一直很珍惜，陈国明副总裁没考虑他人感受的评语，已经深深的伤害了对演艺表演准备做出奉献的梁家班新人。

There has been at least 18 years of collaboration between J Team and Mediacorp. We've weathered quite a few storms, but we also show gratitude by staying on the same side of the line and work towards a common goal. We're not asking for credits here, but we need to tell the ignorant, our contribution, and close working relationship, till date, have gone thru rigorous test of time. As a partner of Mediacorp, we share resources, artistes, experiences and creativity. This sort of working relationship is very rare, and we've always cherished. VP Paul Chan's senseless remarks have deeply hurt J Team's new artistes who've been all ready to start their career in the acting industry.

还有，我身为新加坡艺人公会的艺术顾问，对于他用“7月歌台的歌星”来形容梁家班的艺人深表关注。7月歌台的艺人是一份靠演艺才艺和劳力赚钱的职业，是一份正正当当的职业，为社会做出不少贡献，包括这次的癌症基金筹款，他们也发挥了他们的影响力，副总裁拿“7月歌台的歌星”来形容5位艺人，呈现了一个明显的贬意，我作为一个前7月歌台艺人和现任新加坡艺人公会的艺术顾问有权力进一步了解副总裁这句话的实质含义，以免日后让歌台艺人有所误会。

Also, as a committee member to Singapore's Artiste Association, I am very concerned by his comments & comparison of J Team artistes to "those girls who sing at seventh month getai shows". Seventh month artistes are a group of people who depend on their talents and skills to earn a living. It's a clean and proper profession. They are contributing to the society, and that includes the recent cancer foundation fund raising event. They have used their influence. The VP has used the term "seventh month getai girls" to describe 5 of our artistes, and quite obviously those are disparaging remarks. As a former seventh month getai artiste myself, and now committee member to the Singapore Artiste Association, I have the right to probe further into those remarks that the VP passed, so as to prevent future misunderstandings that may arise form getai artistes.

我们吸收7位女艺人进入梁家班当然是有我们自己的计划，从来也没有想过要模仿新传媒的7公主。成立了强片制片厂（neo studios）后，我们拟定的艺人路线，有我们自己的商业考量，不分青红皂白就直接形容我们7位艺人是便宜的冒牌货，这个形容，单单用开玩笑来解释，是难以信服的。

We definitely have our own plans for the 7 artistes that we have recruited, and we have no intentions to "copy" Mediacorp's 7 princesses. With the creation of Neo Studios, we've prepared the future of our artistes, in line with commercial values and considerations. Having made remarks and comparisons of our 7 artistes to "cheap branded fakes" without even understanding the entire situation, and then passing off those description as "a joke", is simply very lame and not convincing.

我希望陈国明副总裁，身为一个发言人，请尽快出来为自己发言，我相信我的网友读者还有受伤害的艺人和他们的家人都很想听到一个像样和具有说服力的解释.

I hope that VP Paul Chan, as a spokesman, can step forward and clarify for himself. I believe my blog readers, as well as those artistes and their families who were hurt by him comments, would really like a decent explanation from him.

我在上海的时候，在朋友的带领下，我到了上海电影艺术学院，放映了我的小孩不笨2 ，大概300 位来自表演和编导系的同学一起观赏。
When I was in Shanghai, my friend brought me to Shanghai Film Academy. They had screened I NOT STUPID 2, and there were abt 300 students from performing arts and script writing directions, who were there to watch the movie.

之后，我在台上和同学们交流。
After that, we had a discussion on stage.

这些同学的问题，好几个是相当尖锐，相当挑战性。。。
Some questions from these students, some were very incisive and some were very challenging.

不过，很高兴，多数的年轻人看得明白也看得懂也很支持这部电影引进国内，更相信这部电影，应该给他们的父母看。
But still, very glad that most youngsters could understand and visualize as well as support the import of this movie into China. And most of them believe that they should let their parents watch this movie.

这是我们在上海，放映完小孩不笨2之后的记者会，上影和宝路集团的老总都来了，真的是很看中这次的媒体放映，因为来出席的都是40多家上海的主要媒体。
This is the press conference after the screening of I NOT STUPID 2, the boss of Shang hai film group and Bao Lu Enterprise was present as well. They were really keen on this screening, because there were reporters from more than 40 media companies in Shanghai.
这个就是记者会的现场。 This is the press conference.
记者会也邀请了一些小朋友记者在会上发言，很不简单。 Some children were also invited to the press conference, really not easy.

这位是小孩不笨2的女主角，爱雯，这次轮到她随行
This is the lead actress of I NOT STUPID 2, Natalie. This time, is her turn.
她也是我们的7公主之一，今年17岁，这次在中国的记者会上，很多人非常关注她，有些记者还特别跟她拍了很多照片，就因为她很上镜 .She's one of our 7 princesses. 17 years old this year. Many people have paid lots of attention to her. Some reporters even requested to take a lot of pictures of her because she's very photogenic.

我在政府部门的日子，三个奖项入围了金马奖。

这是今年一个很大的鼓舞

最后有没有不重要，最重要是能和这么多名片一起比赛

就是一个重要的肯定

我拍电影不为得奖而拍，这是我的职业病。

喜剧演员出身的我永远都告诉自己

一定要拍人家看得懂的

看得懂还不够要看得爽

看的爽还不够一定得让明白我们的认真和努力

你以为我没有看得奖影片吗？

不是商业片才走方程式，艺术片也有他们的方程式

一走得奖方程式，一般观众就像雾又像花了

葛米星入围最佳男主角，很多人很意外

其实，这个就是值得我们学习的地方

每样东西不需要一板一眼墨守成规

东西是可以改变的条规是人定的

还好这次金马奖没有“just follow law”

我们的非华族演员才可以角逐最佳“难”主角

之前大家都认为很难多数认为不可能的

我们的原著剧本和最佳特效也发挥了效果

因此入围了

人家有“色戒”，我们有“射箭”

办公室的政治那场射箭比赛

花了我们的动画组很多时间

做了很多调整几十个晚上不眠不休

改了又改修了又修

很感激我们这个团队不屈不饶的精神

这场戏后来成为观众，尤其是公务员最深刻的一场戏

包括。。。我。。。（当了8年的公务员）

也是我最痛恨的。。。

不行，这样形容还不够力度。。。

是我最“深恨痛觉”“不共戴天”的官场丑行

经过无数折磨和改稿的日子

入围，总算还两个美女一个公道

电影圈就是因为有很多惊喜

所以它好玩。

电影圈，没有绝对对，也没有绝对错。

这次的展映是新加坡和中国电影节的延续。
This screening was a continuation of the Singapore/China film festival.

我希望借这个机会让更多父母了解亲子之间的沟通问题，所以我是费尽唇舌坚持要延续展映，我知道这个展映是最后的机会，我确定要是这次没有在国内的影院上映，这部影片肯定胎死腹中，也许永远也没有机会见光。
I am hoping to take this opportunity to let more parents understand the communication gap between parents and their children. That’s why I made so much effort and insisted in the continuation of this movie screening. I know this screening will be the last chance. And I am very sure that if I don’t screen my movie in the cinemas this time, then this movie will definitely just die off in silence. Perhaps there won’t even be another chance for this movie to be screened.

其实申请这样的放映是很困难的，还好这次的交流得到了官方的批文才可以继续放映，至少，这部电影有更多中国的观众看到，我就很开心。
Actually, it’s really difficult to approval for such a screening. But thankfully, we managed to get the approvals for screening with the help of the recent media events. At least this movie will get a chance to be seen by the China audience. I am really happy.

很多看过这部电影的人，给了我很多鼓励，都希望这部电影来国内放映，我们面对的就是一个很原始的问题，如何引进，因为要有发行公司赏识这部电影才行啊。
I have gotten a lot of encouragement from audiences who have watched this movie, and they were all hoping that this movie could be screened in China. And that’s a very basic issue that we are facing. How to import it into China. Because there must be a distributor who is interested in this movie before we can start.

这么简单的工作，跑了快两年，还是没有任何明显的进展，这次影展之后，我希望可以取得突破。
Such a simple task, and after 2 years, we hadn’t made any significant progress. Hopefully after this movie premier, we can achieve a breakthrough.

我深信之前那些电影发行商看过这部影片，都把这部片当成是儿童片，这种类型的电影因为有很多不好的前例，都死得很惨，有的甚至一听到是教育片就立刻毛骨悚然的回避，这是一个习惯的问题，所以我的影片不容易取得突破。
I strongly believe that previously when the distributors watched this movie, they had misunderstood it to be a children’s movie. This category of movies had many unfortunate examples in the past. Many of which never quite made it. Some movie distributors even totally dismissed the opportunity the moment the heard it was an educational movie. This is a habitual problem, so that’s why my movie didn’t get a breakthrough easily.

还好，我坚持的做了展映，这次来的人，很多都是圈内人，也有很多在引进上给很多宝贵意见的人，真的很感激大家。
Fortunately, I insisted on the movie screening. This time, we had audiences from the entertainment industry. And many of them gave precious ideas and feedback on importing the movie. I am really thankful.

看到一些观众散场后很热心的给我意见，我都非常感激，所以只好在这里借这个机会告诉大家，我虽然无法一一的和每一个人交换意见，但是我看到大家走出来的表情，和我亲切的打招呼，我知道，他们没有空手回去，至少，他们会告诉他的朋友什么叫赏识教育，也许更因此刺激她他们去了解赏识到底是什么玩意儿？
On seeing the audiences’ warm feedback after the movie screening, I felt very grateful. Therefore, I’d like to take this opportunity to tell everyone, that although I am not able to exchange ideas and comments with every single one of you, but I have noted your expressions after the screening, and your warm wishes. I know the audiences have not left empty handed. At the very least, they now know what is Appreciation Education. Maybe they might even go back and think about what appreciation is all about.

赏识，是每个人身上都有的一把钥匙，拿不拿出来，就要看大家是抱着怎样的态度？
Appreciation is a key that everyone has. Whether to take it out or not, really depends on the attitude and approach of each person.

北京的放映完了，很多该看的人也看了，很多领导也受邀来了，我相信这些领导也很想让这部影片发挥一些效果，我知道，一切还是要耐心的等待。
The movie screening in Beijing is now over. Many people who should have watched it have already done so. Many top leaders had also been invited. I believe these leaders would also like this movie to be able to potentially strike an effect. But I know, I still need to wait patiently.

新加坡媒体局也在上海安排了另一个放映会，我现在正在紧锣密鼓的筹备中，有什么消息，我一定会在这里和大家分享。。。
MDA has prepared for another screening in Shanghai. And I am in the midst of preparing for it. If there are any news, I’ll keep you all updated.

北京的签约和首映

这是在签约之前的一个晚宴，在这里遇到了很多本想见面一直都没有时间的老朋友。。
This was a gala dinner just before the signing ceremony. Met a lot of friends whom I was supposed to catch up with earlier, but didn't get the chance to.
这次新加坡在北京的晚宴主办得很成功。当中都有来自中新两国媒体界的领导。
This Beijing gala dinner was a success for Singapore. Amongst the guests were many top shots from both China & Singapore's media industry.

这是当晚的演出舞台，我国著名歌手何耀姗也到场助阵。
This was the performance for that night. Singapore's famed singer Sun Ho also turned up to lend her presence.
这位是中国电影界一位举足轻重的人，上海电影制片厂的汪总，负责海内外的电影制作项目，色戒就是其中一部，他们投资了3百万坡币。我们就是跟他们签了合作意向书。
This gentleman plays a very important role in China's movie industry. The CEO of Shanghai Production Studio, Mr Wang. He's in-charge of all productions, local & imported. Lust, Caution, is one of the productions in which they invested SGD 3 million. And we signed a collaboration contract with them.
站在这类舞台对我来说并不陌生，但是要给这类主题发表专业的演讲，很压力咯，不过也很享受
I'm no stranger to standing on stage in such gala dinners. But to make a professional speech like this is quite pressurizing leh. But then, still quite shiok lah.
这次在同一个台上负责介绍新加坡媒体的，当然还有新传媒的总裁，Lucas Chow,一个很有男人魅力的人。。。（在场一些女孩子告诉我的）
On the same stage this time, introducing Singapore's media industry, is of course Mediacorp's CEO, Lucas Chow, a very charming man … (some girls there told me!)
当天的论坛，我是主席。。。哈哈，这种压力难以相容，因为台下来了很多中方的代表。
I was the chairman of the forum that day… Haha, very hard to describe the pressure, because off stage, there were a lot of representatives from China.

终于在北京和三家公司签了电影合作意向书了。
Finally signed the collaboration treaty with 3 companies in Beijing.

这是一个很大的挑战也是很大的任务。
This is a really big challenge as a very heavy responsibility.

成立“强片制片厂”，目的是和中国电影公司进行更多的合作，毕竟，中国是一个很大的市场，我们这个小小市场的新加坡如果也不争取搭这躺顺风车，我们真的是该死！
Setting up "Neo Studios" has this exact intention of working together with China's movie companies. After all, China is a very big market. Our market in Singapore is really tiny, and if we don't hop onto this bus, then we should really hang ourselves!

感谢媒体局上下人员的安排，不但让这次的交流空前成功，也让我的电影“小孩不笨2”有机会在北京和观众见面，最重要的是，很多当地的高层领导也在媒体局的邀请下出席了我的首映会。
I'd like to thank all staff at MDA for organizing this event, allowing such successful cultural exchange, and also giving me the opportunity to showcase "I NOT STUPID 2" to the audiences in Beijing. Most importantly, many top management leaders from the China movie industry who were invited by MDA, had attended my movie premier.

这是一个很难忘的经验，首映当晚，观众出乎意料的多，影院甚至还得安排额外的椅子来平息一些没位子的来宾，负责人说，根据惯例，票都会刻意多发，没想到的是，观众出席率有些叫人意外。
This is really an unforgettable experience. On the night of the premier, the crowd turnout was unexpectedly high. The theater even had to arrange for extra chairs to accommodate some guests who had no seats. According to the organizer, the usual practice would be to over issue those tickets. But it was really a surprise to see such overwhelming response.

这个场面，我的情绪是。。。有一句话叫“非笔墨可以形容”，我，就不形容了。
In that scenario, my sentiments were… There's a saying that goes "no words can describe those feelings", so, I shall not describe it.

我看，还是形容一下吧，回想九年来导演了十一部电影，很多人都认为我的作品不适合新加坡以外的市场，就是这个问号，让我此刻心情开始紧张了，我的幽默，我的节奏我的思维，我的主题，会丢新加坡人的脸吗？毕竟，中国市场大但是也是一个陌生的市场。
But I think, let's just try and describe it a bit. Thinking back, it's been 9 years as a director with 11 movies under my belt. Many people think that my movies are not suitable for markets outside of Singapore. And it's this very point with a question mark that has left me very anxious. My humor, my pace, my thoughts, my topics, will they really disgrace Singapore? After all, the China market is after all, an unfamiliar market.

终于开映了，熟悉的人物逐渐登场，逐渐的听到影院里的观众被里头的对白逗热了，我逐渐的放心，根据过去的经验，只要前面的情节大家可以入戏，下来的情节和幽默感人之处应该会有共鸣，尽管如此推测，心情还是战战兢兢的。
At last, the screening starts. Familiar faces have all gradually turned up. I also start to hear the movie dialogue fill the audiences, and I start to relax. According to my past experiences, as long as everyone starts getting engrossed from the beginning of the show, then the rest of the movie would have struck a responsive chord in the hearts of the audiences. And whilst I reckoned that way, I still felt butterflies in my stomach.

和新加坡、马来西亚、香港和台湾的观众一样，北京的观众，笑了，也哭了。。。就好像上次在杭州金鸡百花奖的反应一样，散场后，很多观众带着泪水给我很大的肯定，而到现在为止，我们仍然处在和当地发行商交流的阶段。我做好一切的心里准备，也告诉和鼓励我自己千万不要放弃任何可以争取的机会，尽管有很多人奉劝我，你已经争取了那么多年，没人理你，你又到处碰壁，放弃吧，往前看！这些话都是善意，但都是消极的，就好像我们自己的孩子一样，如果你自己也不给孩子机会，谁还会给这个孩子机会？
Like audiences in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan, the China audiences laughed, and they also cried… Just like the last time in the Gold Rooster Awards in Hangzhou, many audiences left the gala in tears, but they gave me their blessings and recognition. But until now, we are still in the cultural exchange stage with the local film distributors. I have braced myself already, telling myself not to give up on any opportunities that may come by. Even though many people have advised me against it, saying that I have already tried for so many years, and no one will bother about me, that I will walk into a wall again, so just give up and look ahead! These advices are of good faith, but they are also negative. Just like our own kids, if we don't give them a chance, who would?

到处碰壁，是最好的生活体验，我是属于必须奔波的命，非常奔波的命，只有自己不放弃，才会有机会。
Walking into walls can actually be a very good experience in life. I belong to the type who has to slog, and in fact, slog very hard. With only determination, will there be opportunities.

塞外的春天乍暖還寒。4月的一個早晨，天空飄灑著紛紛揚揚的雪花。個中年男子的菜攤車上坐著一個小男孩，孩子用給菜保溫的被子圍著，父親不時用手給兒子掖掖被子。 On the outskirts of Mongolia, warm spring has suddenly turned cold again. One morning in April, snowflakes fell from the sky. A little boy seated on the vegetable cart of a middle aged man. The boy was protected from the cold by the quilt meant to keep the vegetables from being frost bitten. The father would pull the quilt and tuck his son in from time to time.

作者說：" 在陰暗的背景和漫天飛舞的雪花的襯托下，兒子稚嫩紅潤的小臉與父親飽經滄桑的臉形成對比，父子倆面對生活的艱辛相依為命，特別是父親使勁發出叫賣聲時，臉部表情感人力度之大，使人看後心靈為之震顫。
Author says: The combination of the gloomy background and the dancing snowflakes. The soft flushed face of the son and the weathered face of the father have set a contrast. Both father and son faces the tough reality of life, especially so when the father has to hawk his wares. The deep facial expression moves one's heart, sending quivers into the soul.

這就是生活在貧困山區的父子，他們一生別無所求。只求有一塊屬於自己的土地. This father and son live a carefree life in the slumps, in the mountainous regions. And all they wish for, is a piece of land they can call their own.

也許一輩子他們都不知道外面的世界是什麼樣子。 Perhaps they'll never get to know what the world beyond them is like

他們沒上過樓梯，沒搭 "計程車" ，“地铁”，沒進過電影院，可就是樸實勤勞的人們一代代的供養著我們。皇天后土無以回報。
They have never climbed stairs, never took a taxi or MRT, and never been into a movie theater. But it's that very down-to-earth diligence in them that has provided for us generations on. There is no way to repay that gratitude.
愛他們吧，至少在感情上尊重他們。否則我們還談什麼人性？
Love them, or least respect them emotionally. Else, what more humanity do we need to talk about?

第三張＜ 爺爺哭了＞
　我们这里的孩子一直疼恨读书，觉得读书剥夺了玩乐的时间，看看这些可怜的乡村孩子，穷到连书都没得读。。。 most of our children here hate school ,found that studying took away most of their fun time ,look at all these poor village children ,no chance to get into school because of poor...

一些这里的孩子也许会很开心，多好的世界，不需要读书，那是天堂吗？一个人没有知识，活在地狱的时候，你自己或许都不知道。 some children may found very happy here as no schooling is required...is this heaven here?no knowledge ,you cant even know that you are in the hell...

这个爷爷哭了，为什么呢？因为好不容易，那些孩子可以上学了。。。 this old man is crying..why?because their children got chance to study!

一些孩子还是感受不到。。。在长大一些你就知道了。。。 if you cant figure out what is happening...wait till you grown up you will know...

家中的老母親、稚子還在等你拿錢回家
Your aged mother, and your children are waiting for you to bring the bread and butter home…

第五張＜哭泣的老人 CRYING OLDMAN＞

由於沒有執照，老人賣烤紅薯的三輪車被砸壞，車輪鋼線被剪斷，謀生的工具也被城管的人沒收。老人哭泣：明天可怎麼過…？!
Because he was an illegal hawker, this old man who sells roasted sweet potatoes, had his tricycle destroyed. The chain was cut, and the other tools of the trade were also confiscated by the authorities. The old man sobs: How am I to get past tomorrow…?!

同樣都是孩子…………they all both are kids...

终于站在北京新世纪广场的记者会现场。
I’m finally at the press conference in Beijing’s New Century Square.

好不容易的安排，现在紧张的是，记者会来吗？在北京有一些记者认识我，但是还没有来到那种一定来或自动来的。
It was a tedious arrangement. And right now, I'm anxious about whether the reporters will turn up? Some reporters do know me in Beijing, but not close to the extent that they will just turn up on their own.

也许他们有其他的新闻要追，我们就惨了。。。现在，我能做的就是先---笑
Perhaps they might have some other news to catch up on, then we’ll be in trouble… All I can do first is to… SMILE.

然后自己摆一个自以为很潇洒的姿势，消除紧张。。。
Then strike a “I think I’m very handsome” pose to calm myself down…

这次，刚好创锐考完了，可惜，赐健（Joshua）在当兵，那天电他告诉他我们的行程，他表现的很酷，还告诉我，他正要到兵营报到，部队要到澳洲演习了。
也好，到澳洲去也算出国，我当兵的日子也是很期待出国的。
This round, Shawn Lee has finished his exams, but unfortunately, Joshua Ang is serving his National Service (NS). I rang him the other day to tell him our schedules. He was quite cool about it and even told me he’s on his way back to camp. His platoon is going for training in Australia. Not too bad, since going to Australia is also considered an overseas trip. When I was doing my NS, I also looked forward to getting overseas posting.

记者会开始了，糟了，只有我们两个，台上如此冷清，几可怕一下咯。。。
看我，还讲得几爽一下。
The press conference has started. And gosh, there’s only the 2 of us on stage, so lonely, so scary leh… And see, I talk until so shiok.

我在讲的时候，创锐还摆一个美美的姿势，你看，帅哥就是帅哥咯，什么角度拍照都很好看。我就不一样，我这个角度还可以，其他的角度就会看到我的下巴的菱角，几难看一下咯。
When I was making a speech, Shawn sat in a very nice posture. See? Handsome boy is always a handsome boy. He always look good no matter the pictures was taken from any angle. Unfortunately can’t say the same for me. From this angle still OK. But if taken from any other angle, you will notice my double chin, horrible looking lor.

你们一定觉得很奇怪，为什么我的文章这么多，几什么一下的，因为，我的电影，窿的传人，正在做最后最后的修饰，我在编写一些VO的时候，走的就是这个路线，几好玩一下。。。
You guys must be wondering why I punctuate my blog (Chinese version) with so many “几什么一下” (very what hor/lor/leh). That’s because my new movie Ah Long Pte Ltd is in the final editing process. And when I’m scripting the VO, I used a lot of this. Quite fun one lor…

站在旁边的就是我们魅力的主持，她看小孩不笨的时候，真的是情绪有起伏，还来不及跟她问清楚，她一结束就鸟兽散了，哈哈。。可惜，否则给你们看看她也几赚到一下。
Standing besides the stage is a very attractive looking emcee. When she was watching I NOT STUPID, she got really emotional. And even before I could ask her, she fled the moment the show ended. Haha… Pity, otherwise I could show you her picture, and you will also stand to gain lor!

我们台下会讲得那么爽，因为台下的记者还真的很给面子很赏脸，看了我们的媒体预映之后都留下来采访，这是我第一次接触北京的媒体，来了很多报社杂志还有电视台，网站等等，这次的电影公司也安排的真好，那个负责人的名字叫王杰，真的是王杰，不过她是一个女生，今天太匆忙没时间拍她的照片，下来一定不放过。
We were talking until quite shiok on stage because the reporters really gave face. After watching the media preview, all the reporters stayed back for the interview. This is the first time I met the press in Beijing. There were many reporters from various magazines and newspapers, TV stations as well as websites etc. This time the movie company organized it very well. The person in charge is called Wang Jie. It’s true, Wang Jie, but she’s a lady. Today was quite a rush, so I didn’t get a chance to take some photos with her. Will definitely do it next time.

这张是记者发问问题，这位记者说，她很喜欢小孩不笨，说拍得很好看，听到这些，这个就是导演最大的满足感，尤其是从，看很多来自世界各国电影的记者，会给我的电影这样的评语，真的是非常感动。
This picture shows the reporters asking some questions. This lady was saying that she liked I NOT STUPID very much. She said it was well directed. This was indeed very rewarding to a director. Especially if movie reporters are from all over the world and would give me such positive comments. I felt really touched.

帅哥就是这样，立刻就有美女要求拍照，特此声明，这个女影迷不是自己安排的哦。。。
Handsome guy just get all the luck; pretty girl just rush to have their photos taken together. And I must clarify; this female fan was not pre-arranged by us ah…

我呢？没有办法就只好拉创锐跟我拍照啦，帅哥和导演的差别就在这边了。
As for me, no choice but to take picture with Shawn lor. That’s the difference between a handsome boy and a Film Director….

这次的放映，多亏媒体局的安排，至少打开了一道门，很重要的一道门。
Really thankful to MDA for arranging this screening. At least it has opened a door to the China Market. A very important door.

十日凌晨，我就启程北京了。
I’ll be flying off to Beijing in the early hours of the 10th.

心情是紧张的，因为，这次到北京对新加坡的表演艺术团体很重要。
I’m very excited because this trip to Beijing is very important to Singapore’s performing arts.

我会在媒体局的领导下参加新加坡节的盛会，更重要的是，我和philip wu刚刚成立的NEO STUDIOS 强片制片厂将会在部长的见证下，和上影，西影电影集团还有香港地美亚签署合作意向书。
I’ll be attending this event under the arrangement of MDA. And what’s most important is, the company NEO STUDIOS, which I’ve just formed together with Philip Wu, will, sign a collaboration treaty with China & Hong Kong’s movie companies, officiated by some ministers.

这意味着有更多的电影合作会出现，也意味着，我们更艰巨的挑战开始了。
This will mean that there will be more joint productions, which will also mean that this is the start of much more steep challenges.

不知道合作的详细情况如何，但是，每一样事情都有第一次，总是要面对的。
I’m not too sure about the details of the collaboration, but there’s always a first for everything, and we’ll just have to face it.

更重要也是更兴奋的事情是，我的小孩不笨2会在北京的新加坡电影节中作为开幕的电影，据说有很多贵宾会出现，不知道来的人会是谁，希望这些人会欣赏和支持我的这部电影。但愿这部电影可以在中国放映，我深信，这部电影的主题可以让更多大人明白和孩子之间的沟通问题。
Another very important thing, which is also the most anticipated, my production, I NOT STUPID 2, will be commissioning the opening ceremony of the Singapore Film Festival in Beijing. It seems there will be a lot of VIPs, though I’m not sure who will attend, but I do hope that these guests will appreciate and support this movie of mine. Hopefully, this movie will be allowed to screen in China. I strongly believe that the objective of this movie will be able to bridge the communication gap between adults and children.

小孩不笨2在中国安排了好久，公映都不成功，一些中国观众在去年的影展看了这部片，也很希望这部电影可以正式放映给更多想看的人，就是一波三折。
I NOT STUPID 2 has been trying to break into the China market for a very long time, but without success. Some people in China have watched this movie at a film festival last year, and are also hoping that the movie can be officially screened in China. But it’s just been facing a lot of obstacles.

今天终于成功在北京放映了，不知道你们可否感受到我的喜悦。。。
And today, it’ll be officially screened in Beijing, wonder if all of you can feel my sense of joy…

很多事情一开始，大家都告诉你试过了，不行啦，行不通啦，不要浪费时间啦，往前看啦。。。等等消极的话，对我来说，小孩不笨如果我自己也放弃，就没有人会去为你争取任何东西了。

首先是我的新公司的成立 Neo Studio 。
First up is my newly set up company, Neo Studio.

成立这个公司，最重要的目的就是，希望可以把新加坡的电影带到中国去，在人家的地方正式放映。
This company is set up with a main aim to bring Singapore's movie productions into the China market.

所以我们这个基金叫做 Raffles China Media Fund 。
Therefore we have this fund called Raffles China Media Fund.

我希望集合多年来在商界和娱乐界打拼累积的一些联系，从四面八方来筹募这个基金，帮助新加坡有潜力的导演完成他们的电影梦，甚至为国争光！真的，各位，新加坡不可以只有寥寥几个导演在拍商业片，我们一定要栽培和寻找更多的商业片导演来制造新加坡的电影工业。
I'm hoping to gather all the contacts I've gained in the business and media industry, to pool together some funds. Hopefully this can help realize the dreams of potential movie directors in Singapore, and eventually bring glory to the country. Seriously, Singapore cannot have just that handful of commercial movie directors. We need to nurture and source for more commercial movie directors to create a Singapore movie industry.

歌台的颁奖礼。
老实说，最近881 把歌台炒得火热的，大家看到这些艺人今年如此风光，也许很多人不知道这批艺人默默耕耘了多少年都无人理会，真的要感谢陈子谦拍的这部歌台电影，让所有的艺人突然成为了全国的焦点。
Frankly speaking, since 881 had been creating hordes of news for the local "Ge Tai" recently, and everyone seems to have started paying attention to these Ge Tai artistes. But little did you guys know that these artistes have been slogging in silence for so many years without anyone noticing at all. Really have to thank Royston Tan for making this movie about Ge Tai, thereby paying tribute to all these Ge Tai artistes in Singapore.

很多人可能不知道，我也曾经在歌台唱了5 年。
Many of you may not know, but I've also sang at Ge Tais for 5 years.

当时(1983-88年)的心酸苦辣包括被一些当年电视台的同行很看不起歌台的艺人，那种感受，不是外人可以理解的。
During then（1983－1988）, it was very sad to have people in our own TV station looking down on getai singer. This is not something that everyone understands.

歌台的歌星，都是在竞争底下，靠真材实料才可以生存的艺人，其实这行饭是很难吃的，在那种环境里面，你要是混饭吃，你就没有当大牌的机会，你要是偷懒不练新歌，你就面临做冷板凳，你要是得罪了台主，你就会被冷藏起来。。。
Ge Tai singers are all under competition. You must have solid talent to be able to survive. In fact, this is not an easy line to work in. If you are not putting enough effort into this job , then you'll never get to be a "big "singer(so that can earn more money). If you are lazy and don't practice new songs diligently, then you might be given a cold shoulder. And if you offend the stage host(taizhu), then you'll be condemned to cold storage forever…

歌台这批艺人，靠自己的才艺献艺为生，不偷不抢，养家糊口，却从来没有获得任何的肯定，其实当中有很多歌艺比美港台大牌的大有人在，但是他们缺乏机会，也不是很会经营自己，一些人主持功力一级棒的也最后因年老而默默的退下。
This batch of Ge Tai artistes depend on their own talents to survive. They make an honest living, but yet have never received any recognition. In fact, there are many artistes comparable to those of stars in Hong Kong and Taiwan. But in the end, because of a lack of opportunities and because they can't manage themselves, some of those with very good hosting skills, had to just retire quietly.

这批人，大半生贡献给这个行业， 50年来，从王沙野峰的歌台时代到现在，从来也没有人想过给这批人才艺上的肯定，歌台的台前幕后人员，从舞台到音响，从乐队到台主，从台主到歌星，为数少说也有几百人，这些人，就是这样默默的耕耘着。。。
This batch of people dedicated their whole life to this industry. From the times of Wang Sha & Ye Feng Ge Tai shows, to now, no one had ever thought of giving any form of recognition to their performing skills. included the cast and crew of Ge Tai show, from stage to sound, from live band to the stage host, from the host to the singers. At the least count, there would have been a few hundred people involved. And these people just work in silence…

我们国家目前的发展阶段强调" 以人为本" ，人是我们的唯一资源，也许这批歌手没有叱咤亚洲乐坛，但是" 七月歌台" 肯定是全世界独一无二的" 乐坛" ，人家台湾有金钟奖，每年都有人敲钟得奖鼓励自己的歌手，为什么我们从来没为这批人设立奖项，鼓励他们？如果，除非我们没有认同这批人的才艺，除非我们自己娱乐圈的人都看不起这些人，我们是不是和" 以人为本" 的原则背道而驰？
At present, Singapore emphasizes a lot on people development. And people are the only natural resources that we have. Perhaps this batch of singers may not have taken Asia by storm. But the 7th month Ge Tai is definitely the one and only in the world. There's the Golden Bell awards in Taiwan, which recognizes the achievements of their own singers. Why can't we do the same for this batch of people, stage an award, and encourage them as well? Unless we don't recognize this group of artistes. Unless people within the local entertainment industry look down on this group of artistes. Then aren't we contradicting the principle of people development?

颁奖，这也可以是一个鸡和鸡蛋的问题，如果我们每年都为这一大批人举办一个颁奖礼，把每年的歌台盛事推到最高峰，让这些默默耕耘的人，每年都有一个期望，他们也可以穿美美走红地毯，在很多记者的闪光灯下摆pose ，这一些，都是身为艺人最喜欢的时刻。一个人获得了肯定，所散发出来的能量肯定可以继续推动不只是歌台也许还包括本地娱乐圈的发展。
The awards thing might also a chicken and egg issue. If we hold an awards ceremony for this batch of artistes every year, and promote the Ge Tai performances to its peak. Let these silent performers have hopes every year, let them dress in their best and walk the red carpet. Let them shine under the flash lights of the reporters in their best pose. These are what artistes like the most. Once someone is recognized, then it will serve as a motivation for the others and continue to contribute not just the Ge Tai,but our entertainment circle here.

最高兴的是，当我把这个提议告诉OMY （最近刚刚新成立的一个网站 http://www.omy.sg ）的主编蔡深江还有他的一些同僚，大家都非常赞成这样的一个颁奖礼。我深信，这个颁奖礼在华文报的领军下，新加坡这个独有的文化，可以更进一步的被重视和提升。
The best part of it all, is when I told OMY's editor Cai Shen Jiang (a new website http://www.omy.sg) and some other people in the industry my suggestions, everyone agrees that we should have a awards presentation like this. I strongly believe that this awards, under the leadership of the Chinese newspapers, will be able to elevate the importance and unique culture of Singapore.

其实，歌台的文化，不是被福建话霸占了，而是根据流行歌曲的潮流趋势，说歌台是福建歌的天下是很狭隘的说法，其实，歌星唱什么歌都是市场流行什么歌来主导， 881 选择通通福建歌相信只是一个票房和歌曲版权的考量，其实新加坡的歌台是什么歌都不放过的，只要它流行，广东歌也好、华语歌也好，什么语言的歌是其次，最重要的是，这是我们独有的文化，我们为什么不觉得应该骄傲呢？
Actually, the culture of Ge Tai is not solely dominated by the Hokkien dialect. It is in fact following the trends of the current pop music culture. Therefore it's very narrow-minded to say that Ge Tais have only Hokkien songs. In fact, whatever the singers sing on stage are those popular hits in the market. 881 chose to use all Hokkien songs could be due to box office as well as copyright issue. And it's a fact that the Ge Tais in Singapore would present any popular songs, as long as it is a chart topper, be it is Cantonese, Chinese or whatever language/dialect, that is not important. What's important is, this is our unique culture, so why shouldn't we feel proud about it?

为老查某拍摄MV 的导演，是一位很杰出的人才。之前我在网上放的" 杂菜饭" 短片，就是他的作品。他的名字叫做戴敏非，马来西亚人。他的家族，可说是出了很多名人呢！
The director who did Lao Zha Bor's MV is a remarkable talent. In my previous blog entry, I uploaded a video clip of " 杂菜饭" , that's his work. His name is Dai Min Fei, a Malaysian. His family has quite a few celebrities!

心痛的事。。。 A Heartbreaking Affair

是的，我写了一个空的文章。
Yep, I wrote a blank article.

因为我心痛一件事，痛到。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。无法释怀。。。难过！ That's because I'm disappointed over something, soooooo disappointed... Simply can't explain... Very sad!

一些事情很久了都没有进展，很多同行都不愿意开口，随波逐流。。。。。。。。。
certain things have not developed for a very long time. Many people in the industry are also not willing to voice out, letting it just drift with the current...

我不知道我说的对不对，所以，早上我放了上去，英文很快翻译了。。。
I'm not sure if I phrased it correctly, therefore, I published my blog in the morning, and the English translation was done quite quickly...

最后，我还是决定拿下来。。。
But in the end, I still decided to take it down...

因为我知道，我说了也是白说。。。
Because I knew that it was going to be a waste of my efforts...

今天看到早报副刊，关于电视制作人的困境，很有感触。

其实，在新加坡的媒体生态下，政府每年敲锣打鼓要推动创意和媒体，一个根本问题没有解决是白费心机的。

新加坡的媒体工业在那里？没有平台发挥，没有生死竞争的电视生态，生态一成不变，新加坡就不可能有类似台湾的著名制作人出现，例如创造类似F4的柴智屏。

两个电视台，两方都在亏损，大家都很心痛，一些领导认为这是无谓的资源消耗和浪费。

合并之后，我们就没有亏损了吗？

我们正在亏损新加坡媒体的前途。。。

说了这么多严肃的话，给大家来一个轻松的。。。和上面没有关系的。。。

很多上我部落格的朋友都喜欢我的文章，因为看我的文章好像看我的节目一样很搞笑。

这是各位给我最大的鼓励，让我很有推动力，不过抱歉，最近总是在忙着窿的传人剪接，没有时间上部落格，抱歉。

刚刚整理照片，看到去年在日本的一些照片，不知道大家喜欢吗？看看这一张，和古人勾肩搭背，也是对历史的一种贡献。。。

能够如此摸着她的脸逼着她和我拍照，人生难得的机会。

有时侯，是需要装可爱一些的。。。如果这张可爱的表情可以引起你的共鸣，开心也好，恶心也好，这个表情就是完成任务了。

职业病啦，我始终无法忍受那么支持我的人，来了我的地盘，又看不懂我的内容，我觉得很过意不去咯，这就是我。。。
Occupational hazard lah. Really couldn't tolerate having so many supporters coming into my territory and not being able to understand my thoughts. Just not my style and don't feel good about it lor…

现在的一些人，态度消极多了，你不欣赏我，我就不做了，这样下去，地球如何运转呢？
These days, some people tend to have very negative mentality. If you don't appreciate my works, then I have to give up. If that was the attitude, then how can the earth still spin leh?

一些网友奉劝我放弃英文翻译，很失望这样的建议。
Some net pals even advised me to give up the English translation, and I felt utterly disappointed by those suggestions.

Besides, my movies have already made to many other countries. And some students in the US (non Singaporeans), who had come to Singapore to conduct interviews with me, were telling me that they knew my movies because their teachers had used my movies as teaching materials during their lessons. And these scenarios are even more common in China. 翻译的问题，各位不要太苛刻啦，其实是我要求翻译的风格接近原文的风格，我不希望，中文的很滑稽，英文的很正统，风格十万八千里，搞得不三不四，到时大家还是有话讲。
With regards to the translation, pls don't be so harsh lah. Actually, I have requested my translator to translate as closely as possible to what I have originally written. Because if the Chinese version was comical and the English version is so proper, then the entire style would have been miles apart, and would not fit in at all. And with that, people will start having other opinions about the translations again.

最后，针对我称呼成龙为 " 老人家" 的争执，让我来解说一下。
Lastly, let me clarify the dispute on " 老人家" old man.

称呼一个人老人家，其实在一定程度上是尊敬他的，在这里造个句子给大家参考比较：爷爷带着孙子散步，他老人家就是喜欢运动，锻炼身体。请各位成龙的支持者详看一下，梁导是那里不尊敬他？如果我形容成龙为：这老头子、老家伙。。。这，就是不尊敬他了，明白吗？
Addressing someone as an 老人家（lao ren jia ）in chinese, to a certain extent, is not exactly being disrespectful. I'll give you an example: Grandfather brought his grandson out for a walk. The "lao ren jia" just likes to go for an exercise, to keep fit. Would all Jackie Chan fans pls read it in detail, and tell see if I have been disrespectful to him? If I had described Jackie Chan as " 这老头子 " "the old fogey" or "老家伙 " "old goat"… Then I'm really being disrespectful, get it?

还半信半疑吗？可以试试看问问华文老师，如果是因为英文的直接翻译惹祸也请大家原谅，因为" 老人家" 的英文翻译还有更贴切的吗？有的话，我一定取代现有的old man 。
Still don't believe ah? you can ask the Chinese language teacher. If it's because of the English translated term ,can any one tell me, what would be a more appropriate or the closer term for " 老人家 " ? If there's really a better or correct term for it, I'll replace it without any hesitating .

受邀出席一个商家的新产品推介仪式，据说这个商家，资金雄厚，只是卖洗发水等之类的产品。

Was invited to attend a new product launch ceremony. And it seems that this manufacturer has a very strong financial background. They only sell shampoo and related stuff.

这个宴会的主题，到处都是成龙的照片，是不是搞噱头呢？At the dinner, you could see Jackie Chan's pictures everywhere. Don't you think that's a good gimmick?

坐在贵宾席，很靠近舞台，友人叫我拍一张照片留恋，没想到竟然出现这个效果，对比背后的巨型彩照，前面那个英俊的叫jack 后面那个老的叫jackie ，只是差两个字 ie，还差得蛮大的，不是长他人志气灭自己威风，当成是鼓励自己就很有意思了。As I was seated at the VIP section very near the stage, my friend made me take this picture as a memento. And little did I expect to have captured this effect. In proportion to the large poster in the background, the handsome guy in the front is called Jack, and the old guy in the back is called Jackie. 说了那么久，立体的出现了，应该说是本尊，其实我见过他，友人立刻拍照，但是距离远了，所以有些蒙蒙。After so much talk, the actual thing has appeared. I mean, the man himself. Actually, I did meet him in person, but by the time my friend managed to take his picture, he had already walked on, so the picture was blurry.

上台之后，还跟主持人寒暄一会。。。当年我还没有拍电影之前，我就是当这种主持巨星的主持人或司仪。我曾经在IMM开幕的时候主持过成龙叔，当时在台上拍卖他的夹克，可是在台上喊了半天没有人要拿，成龙好尴尬哦，我记得他当时的表情，真同情他，新加坡人有时候就是这样修理人，不过这个是主办机构的错，这种投标是应该事先叫人家捐钱，然后在台上假假喊有人愿意捐钱，就是这样啦，之前的主办机构就是没有经验，结果害得成龙叔冷汗流得满身湿到底裤去了，最后情急之下，他干脆在台上自己贱价卖掉他的夹克，看得大家目瞪口呆。
Up on stage, he also mingled with the emcees... Long ago, before I started making movies, I was also an emcee like them. I ever hosted the opening ceremony of IMM with uncle Jackie as the guest star. At that time, we were trying to auction his jacket off on stage. But after shouting half a day, no one was interested in it. Jackie Chan was so embarrassed lor. I can still remember his expression, and I really pity him. Singaporeans ah... Sometimes really "tekan" people like that. But actually, the organizers were at fault. In this kind of auctions, they should have asked for sponsors in advance, then pretend to carry out the auction on stage, to "willing buyers". Should be like that mah. Those organizers had no experience then, causing uncle Jackie to break out in cold sweat, from head to toe, underwear also wet. Towards the end, in a fit of panic, he discounted his own jacket and sold it off, much to the astonishment of everyone.

后来主办机构都去撞墙壁赎罪。
After that incident, the organizers had to bang their heads on the wall and apologize.

这个就是邀请他成为洗发水代言人的商家，也是中国的富商，是死父多钱的那种，不是一点点是死父多钱哦。。。This is the man who invited Jackie to be the spokesman for the shampoo. He's also one of China's richest tycoons. The type who had inherited a-hell-of-a-lot-of fortune. Not just some, but a-hell-of-a-lot...
成龙的任务来到现场就是和这些人拍照，总共有百多桌，六桌一照，速度还算蛮快的.Jackie Chan's mission was to appear at the function and have his pictures taken with these people. There were more than 100 tables in total. And they put 6 tables per picture, and managed to do it rather fast.
不是年轻人喜欢他，你看看照片里面的人他们的年龄，都是从小看着成龙长大的影迷。Not only young people like him. Look at the ages of those people in the photo. All of them are fans who grew up watching Jackie Chan.
就在会场，竟然碰到了新传媒的老友，那个艺人的奶爸林俊豪，还有我们的美女，王爱玲。At the dinner, I actually met an old friend from Mediacorp. The nanny of many artistes, 林俊豪 , and our very own beauty, Ong Ai Leng 王爱玲 .
你一定很好奇，这个王爱玲在那边是干什么？满面春风的。。。You must be very curious about what Ong Ai Leng was doing there. All fresh faced...
你看这个美女是坐在哪？我的位子已经很不错了，她的竟然是。。。和很重要的人坐在一起。Look at where she's sitting at? I have a very good view from my seat. She was actually sitting with very important people.

很重要的人，就是这两个人，画面很有趣，和我刚才的那张有异曲同工之妙，同样的是一个在前一个在后，前面的那个姓“陈”，后面的，哈哈哈，也是“成”，可是，前面的那个是超级有钱的人，后面的那个是拿前面那个人的钱，代言他产品的人，知道是谁了吗?The very important people refers to these two. A very interesting picture, similar to the one earlier with me in it. Again, with one in front, and one behind. The one in front has the surname Chen. While the one behind, has the surname Chan. However, the one in front is super rich, and the one behind is the guy who takes money from the one in front, and happens to be the spokesman for his product. Know who they are already?

对了，前面的就是洗发水的老板，陈总，后面的是成龙，两人的侧面都有一个吸引人的地方，成龙的像极了成龙，陈总的，像极了---吴宇森！Yep, the one in front is the boss of the shampoo company Chairman Chen, and the one behind is Jackie Chan. Both of them something distinct from their side views. Jackie Chan looks exactly like Jackie Chan. And Chairman Chen looks like... John Woo 吴宇森！/p>

老实说，这个人，其实就是吴宇森！Actually, this man is really John Woo!/p>

哈哈哈，开玩笑的啦，才不是吴宇森，是洗发水的陈总。Hahaha, joking lah, he's not John Woo lah. He's the boss of the shampoo company Chairman Chen.

这种巷子在中国是很普遍，但是这个巷子，我始终觉得，很艺术咯。。。这种背景，只要灯光一打，感觉就来了。。。These types of streets are very common in China. Bit this particular lane, I feel, is very artistic… The background, with proper lighting, you'll be able to get the feel…

最近也碰到一个快要面临绝种的喜剧导演，在柔佛，一个机缘巧合之下，我们碰面了，他送给我们一个光碟要我和我的创意总监过目，我们一开机之后就笑不停，不相信，你们看，这个光碟，很有笑话爆发点，所有的演员都是一般没有经验的人，其实导演很厉害。Recently, I met an almost comedy director who's close to extinction. We met by chance in Johor. He gave us a VCD, and asked me & my creative director to have a look. And the moment we put it on we, we laughed non stop. Don't believe ah? You guys watch it lah. The jokes will make you burst out laughing. All the actors in the show are non professionals. So in actual fact, the director is really good.

之前和海蝶合作的非常演员训练班已经快要来到尾声了。
The earlier collaboration with Ocean Butterfly on the Unusual Artiste Training Class is almost coming to an end.

课程之中，我们也安排大家去进行一些演出的观摩，这次，我们安排大家到电视台观赏搞笑至尊最后两集的录影。
During the course, we arranged for the students to go thru demonstrations. This time round, we arranged for them to go to Mediacorp to watch the recording of the last 2 episodes of World of Laughs.

这张是我的casting director替我拍的，角度和气氛我都很喜欢，有一种，导演的感觉，呵呵，他们说的。。。this picture was taken by my casting director .i like the angle and feel to it.they said it had the director feel.

我们的同学就是在一个角落观赏，特别安排大家做在一个显眼的地方，这些同学，都很好奇。。。这就对了，这就是一种热忱。Our students observed the recording from this corner. We had intentionally put them in a conspicuous corner. These students showed a lot of curiosity… Which is expected due to their passion.

不只是演员训练班的同学有观摩的机会，我们梁家班也因为有观众，特别卖力，这次的录影，破了有史以来的最早完成录影的记录。It wasn't only the students of the Talent Quest classes. J Team also had very enthusiastic audiences. And this time, the recording had broken a record of completing the record very early.
喜欢同学们热忱的学习态度，因为明天他们就要考试了，借这个机会给大家提供一些贴士。。。I liked the students' passion in learning, because tomorrow, they have to go thru a test. So using this opportunity to give everyone some tips…

同学们好好玩哦，想要偷偷和他们一起拍照也不行。大家在后面尽量搔首弄姿，好过扮鬼脸。Well, have fun, students, but you can't take photographs with them. Every one was giggling the background, but still it was better than making funny faces.

结果第2天的录影，一些同学没有来了，我觉得很可惜。其实第2天的录影，梁家班拿出更多的料给大家看。可惜咯！

老实说，人生，经常都会陷入一些无法预见的困境，与其怨天尤人，倒不如调整自己。

就好像这个录象，让你看得开心，如果你现在正在经验一些困境，学我轻松一下对待吧。

因为你喜欢我的短片，我的困境立刻变成一个美丽的回忆。

不过，汽车修理费还没有出来，我老婆说，应该是很贵哦。。。

Frankly speaking, life is like that, You never know when you are going to get ca ught in such a sticky situation. So instead of blaming the whole world , might as well adjust to fit in.

Dear net pals, Director Neo is home!

没想到我人不在的时候，我的部落格竟然“政变”，有人企图“篡位”，还好各界的鼎力支持，小弟才没落得好像泰国前首相达信一样的下场，哈哈哈。
Didn’t expect that when I was away, there was “political unrest” in my blog. Someone actually attempted to usurp my throne. Luckily with much support from all of you round the globe, I didn’t end up like former Thai premier Taksin, hahaha.

其实，这个时候发生这种事情，让我很进退两难，尤其是现在我上报章新闻是很不方便的，很多人会嫌言嫌语，我在抢新闻争出风头，实际上，这个事情是很不得已的，我不出声，这事可能会越变越离谱，看看另一个躲在匿名后面公然说，那个伤害小木瓜的人是我，真的是啼笑皆非。我有两批朋友给我意见，一批说算了啦，另一批说一定要跟到底。。。
Actually, this case was a difficult one to handle. Especially so when it was really inconvenient for me to appear in the news at this point in time. So much gossip and rumours that I’m trying to get into the lime light. In actual fact, this issue was really uncalled for. If I had just kept quiet, then the matter might have just gotten worse. The fact that the other guy was writing as Anonymous, accusing me of hurting Little Papaya (Mindee Ong), I really don’t know whether to laugh or cry. two groups of friends gave me 2 sets of opinion. Some said to forget it, the others said to pursue all the way…

有些事情，不是大人有大量的问题，而是，我保持沉默，人家说我在默认这个事，连出来澄清也心虚，唉，真的是哑子吃黄莲，另一些朋友说，你澄清的话，就是在帮助881的气势，老实说，这个从来就不是我的考量和担心，我说过，还有什么我可以帮忙让这部电影票房更好的事我都义不容辞，只要是帮助本地电影，我一定掏心掏肺的帮忙，我认为每一个新加坡的电影工作者都应该无条件的互相帮忙本地制作，让我们形成一股力量面对外来制作的挑战，别忘了，任何人，改次拍电影的时候，同样的也会很需要大家的拔刀，我们的电影工业才会形成。
In my thoughts, it’s not a matter of being magnanimous. Because if I remain quiet over it, people will say that I’m just admitting it, didn’t bother to come out to clarify it. Haiz, really speechless man. On the other hand, if I clarified it, then I’d be helping 881 in publicity. This in actual fact, was never my fear. As I have said, whatever I can do to help increase the box office of this movie, I’d be most obliging. As long as it’s for a local movie production, I would go the extra mile. I think everyone in the Singapore movie industry should help each other out. Let us work together and exterminate the imported movies. Not forgetting, whoever next who’s going to make another movie will definitely need the help and support of others. Only then will our movie industry flourish.

OK, let’s take about my recent developments.

这躺到中国和香港走一回，有很多好事和好的照片要跟大家分享，我在香港很偶然的情况下遇到了我的偶像，知道我的偶像是谁吗？哈哈哈哈。。。很快就会让你看到，你一定很吃惊的。
This trip to China and Hong Kong, I have many nice pictures to share with all of you. I even met my idol in Hong Kong by chance. Want to know who my idol is? Hahahaha… Very soon you’ll see, and I am sure you’ll be very surprised.

冒充者 The Imposter

我很失望，有人竟然冒充我的名字在我的TAG BOARD 上骂人，其实我已经很久没有上TAG BOARD因为在中国我无法上blogspot，我最近的post是我写了之后，用word file寄给我公司的助理让她来帮忙我上传。

冒充我的人可能觉得躲起来干这种事很好玩，但，这是犯法的，我要求这个人现身向我和被骂的网友道歉，请他直接写email到：office@jteam.com.sg。

一个星期内没有看到回音，
我就报警让警方处理。

这是我的部落格，言论和思维都代表我，我有责任制止这个事情发生，这个人可以叫Jack Neo但是他必须表明他不是我，现在他在我的部落格公然误导大家他就是Jack Neo，这是非常严重了。

I am really disappointed. Someone actually made use of my name and started scolding other people on my TAG BOARD. In actual fact, I have not visited my TAG BOARD for a very long time, because I’m in China, and there’s no way to access blogspot. My recent posts were written by me, and sent as a word file to my colleague, who then published it for me.

Probably this imposter thinks it’s very funny to do such an act secretly. But, this is illegal, and I would like to request for this person to come forward and apologize to me and as well as all blog readers whom he had offended. This person should email to: office@jteam.com.sg

If I do not hear from this person within 1 week,
I WILL LET THE POLICE HANDLE THIS MATTER.

下雨日记

昨天是一个很好笑的一天。

Yesterday was a really funny day.

紧张的约了陈建彬商谈一些合作事项，因为时间紧逼，还要赶着去另一个临时会议，于是请建彬在车上和我一起。

Urgently made an appointment with Marcus Chin to discuss some work matters, and because of tight schedules, as well as another urgent meeting to attend, I requested that Marcus join me in my car.

车上一路聊天很愉快，虽然外面下着很大的雨，可是我们的谈话始终很高调。

Although it was pouring outside, we still managed to have an enjoyable conversation in the car.

会议结束后，准备送建彬到电视台，因为他有972的一些户外宣传。习惯性的抄小路，那是一条很多电视台同事都会习惯的捷径。

After the meeting, I had to send Marcus back to Mediacorp because he had some other events with Love 97.2 to attend. So I took a short-cut. It was a route that many Mediacorp artistes would take.

转弯的时候，看到前面有一些积水，过去常常也发生，于是不以为意的开过去，冲到一半的时候。。。你看

Round a corner, I noticed a puddle of water. As it was common in the past, I just drove through it. But halfway through… see what happened…

还不知死活的时候，突然才发现到，水位已经来到这么深了。

And whilst I still didn’t realize the seriousness, I suddenly realized that the water level was already so deep.

看电影多了，突然发现四面八方都是水流很急的水正涌向我的车。。。
Like in the movies, I suddenly realized that there was just a lot of water flowing towards my car…

这张照片是我们弃车之后，回头看看我的宝贝，实在很心痛，不知道它最后会不会被大水全面淹没。。。

This picture was taken after we decided to abandon my car. Looking back at my baby, really heart-ache. Was really wondering if my car would have been totally submerged in the flood…

这是我和建彬后来避雨的一个地方，其实，已经被淹没一大半了

This was where Marcus and me came to take cover. And in fact, the place itself was also half flooded.

Actually, we were really very badly drenched. Don’t think we were really happy in this picture; in fact, we had to force ourselves to smile.

最讽刺的是，来来往往的重型车辆还是潇洒自如。。。

And to make matters worse, all the other vehicles were just passing through with no problems at all…

只有我的仍然在水中央。
Only my car was stuck in the middle of the pool of water.

终于有一辆卡车停下救命。

Finally, a truck decided to stop and help us.

我现在人在上海，没有办法把我当场录下的一些片段和大家分享，是一个很好的体验，但是一次就够了，因为，我的车引擎进水，修理费可以买一个很好的手提电脑。

Right now I’m in Shanghai. Didn’t manage to share some videos which I had recorded. This is really a good experience, but hopefully just only this once. The repair cost to fix my car engine would probably be more than enough to buy a really good top-end laptop.

晕了。。。。

Fainted…

还有我的是手提电脑也进水，完蛋了，希望是破财消灾。

Even my laptop also drowned… That’s it… Hopefully this unexpected loss will be blessed with better luck..

对于这个号码，大家最近不断的在本地各大媒体上看到，就是因为这部电影目前炒得很火，口碑也很好。
This number keeps appearing everywhere in the local media (news, magazines and newspapers), because this movie is currently very hot. It had also gotten very good reviews.

其实，很难得终于可以看到本地的新导演有这样的成绩。
Actually, it's really a very rare chance for a local new director to have such good results.

一个国家要拥有电影工业，就是要制造一个电影圈，电影圈要存在，当然要有导演，在新加坡我认为至少应该有十个左右的商业导演和无数的艺术导演才可以造就新加坡的电影圈。
To have a movie empire in a country, one must first have a movie industry. For the movie industry to survive, there must of course be a director. In Singapore, I think there should be at least 10 or so commercial movie directors and many other art house directors in order to form a movie industry in Singapore.

过去十多年来，我们的电影成长得超级慢，很多本地新进导演都全军覆没，看到一个一个年轻人满怀热忱的找到一笔资金，在非常没有经验和市场概念的情况下上前线，在票房方面都战死沙场收场，其实，我也觉得很惋惜。
Our movie growth has been super slow in the past 10 years. Many new local directors have all flopped. Seeing all these hot blooded youngsters happily gotten hold of financing, approaching the market without any help or experience, in the end, all died in the battle-field of poor box office. I really do feel sorry for them.

多年来，很多观众都不断的支持我的电影，有记者说新加坡的电影圈好像是梁智强的个人游乐场，哈哈哈，这句话我也不知道怎么反应，不过从 881 的成功，大家可以看到一个事实，只要懂得捕抓故事，把故事讲好，要拍一部大家爱看的电影不是遥不可及的。
For many years, many audiences have supported my movies. Some reporters even said that the Singapore movie industry is like jack Neo's playground. Hahaha, I didn't even know how to react to that comment. But the success of 881 has just proven one thing. As long as you know how to catch the market, and tell the story well, it's not that difficult to make a good movie.

当然，记者最近也老是动不动就来电询问我关于对这部电影的看法，我是来者不拒，如果我的评语可以帮助到本地电影的票房，我绝对不会吝啬，因为栽培新进导演也是我来临的任务，我希望我可以栽培至少两个新的导演和电影编剧，训练更多对这方面有兴趣的人。
Recently there had been many reporters who've been calling me and asking my opinion on this movie. I didn't turn them away, because if my comments can help a local movie box office, I definitely won't stinge on it. To foster new and upcoming directors are my new responsibilities. I hope I can cultivate at least 2 new directors and script writers, as well as train all who are interested in this industry.

每一部再烂的电影都有它好的地方，每一部好的电影都要一些时间成长，要懂得把握第一次是非常重要的，
For every bad movie, there would still be good parts. And every good movie will need time to grow. And to be able to make the best out of the first time, is very important.

媒体如何给新的导演鼓励，是一门学问，不是每个媒体都愿意这么做的。
It takes a lot of skill to be able to give encouragement to a new director. And not every media-source are willing to do that.

懂得鼓励新近导演也是对本地电影工业的一个小小贡献。
Knowing how to encourage these new directors will definitely inject some form of contribution to the local movie industry.

881 我的估计，一开始就是过150 万可以逼近200 万，现在，各个媒体都在竞相加入煮炒，突破250 万是指日可待。
I'm guessing that 881 can gross 1.5 million in box office and could possibly hit 2 million as well. And the media are also trying to add coal to the fire by saying that it could break 2.5 million.

希望它可以最终冲破300 万，干掉所有的海外电影。。。cheers!!!
Let's hope it can break 3 million instead and beat all other imported movies hands down… cheers!!!

阿南的光碟

这几天，修改 " 窿的传人" 版本，同样是没日没夜。
These few days, due to the editing process of " 窿的传人", I'm still working "no day no night" (round the clock).

对于三个小时的初剪大家似乎很心痛我删减。其实我的每部电影都会拍长一些来修建，不是因为我要浪费，而是，很多时候一些场面，现场拍摄和回来剪接配合整体链接起来，效果是很不一样的。
Regarding the draft cut being 3 hrs long, many of you seem to feel "heart-ache" tht I need to shorten it. Actually, in every one of my movies, I will always film it a little longer so that I can edit it. Not that I want to waste it, but at times, many scenes, during the actual filming and during editing to make up the scene, the effects are totally different.

我不知道其他拍摄短片和电影的人是不是和我一样的遭遇。
I'm not sure if other short film makers or movie directors have the same problem as I'm facing.

我很希望可以把这部影片通通放上去给大家观赏，都已经拍了嘛，问题是，太长，有时候是会不集中和闷场的，所以身为导演的任务就是确保最好的给大家，不应该不好的也硬塞给你们。
I really hope I can show the complete movie to all of you. After all, it's already been filmed mah. But the problem is, too long. Sometimes the movie may appear to be not focused and may bore all of you. so, my job as a director is to ensure what i give is the most interesting one..

The other day, we made a VCD for Ah Nan.（Ah Nan Talk show） Invited some very professional singers to appear in the programme. Hopefully, we can help his career after he released from jail .

窿的传人，终于在几个不眠不休的夜晚冲刺后，大功告成了。。。
After countless sleepless nights of rush job, " 窿的传人" is finally completed.

这个大功告成是影片第一个初剪版的完成，真正的工作还没有开始呐。。。
But this completed job is only the first cut edition. The actual job is not totally completed leh…

这个投资商的预演，其实就是一个毛片的观赏。当年钱不够用完成后，很多看了毛片的人都说很好看，当时我还以为朋友客气，后来证明，钱不够用的导演（是郑德禄，不是我）剪接功力和情节的拿捏，出神入化，一次剪完就成了 584 万元票房的定局版。
This preview for the investors is actually just a draft cut preview. Some years ago, when "Money Not Enough" was completed, many people who watched the draft cut preview commented that it was very good. At that time, I thought it was just friends who were trying to be polite. After that, I realized that the director of "Money Not Enough" (who was " 郑德禄 " and not me) was extremely skilled in editing and understanding the movie. Once cut ended up with a SGD 5.84 million box office.

我说过，看毛片是必须具备想像力的，因为很多音效特效都没在里面，不会看的人会满头雾水，不过，如果一般人若把毛片也看得津津有味，对于导演制片来说，肯定是一个大好消息。
As I said before, watching the draft cut requires some kind of imagination. Because a lot of sound effects and special effects are not there. Those who don't know will be quite blur. However, if the general audience watched the draft cut and enjoy it very much, then it will definitely be good news to the director and producer.

不说各位也许不知道，窿的传人，初剪版， 3 个小时，我自己也晕倒了，很感谢受邀观赏的人，只是上了一次厕所。
Maybe all of you didn't know, but, " 窿的传人", draft cut, was 3 hours, I also nearly fainted. I'm very grateful to those who came for the preview and only went to the toilet once!

我拍戏有一些自己的方式，也许有些人不是很喜欢，例如我会现场修改台词，让台词更具震撼力，如果发现一些情节在演员的表演下未能达到效果，我肯定不会坐视不理，一定会加入一些盐和醋，这个就是时间的消耗和预算的增加，要是碰到一个演员抓不到我要的感觉（真想死给他看），若这部分是重要的，我一定会务求完美的要求又要求，演员当时肯定恨我，可是在戏院放映的时候，他们一定会感激我，因为，把表情弄对了，震撼了观众，导演背后的苦心也许圈内人知道一些，圈外是没有多少人会去理会的，而观众看了演员的精湛演出，肯定称赞演员 " 演技进步了" 。
I have my own style when it comes to filming a movie. Perhaps some people may not like it. For example, I may change the script and lines on the spot so that it will have a greater impact. If I see that some actors are not able to achieve the effects required, I can't just sit there and do nothing. I'll sure add salt and vinegar. And this is what leads to extra time and costs. If the actor can't catch the feel that I'm expecting (then I will feel like hanging myself), and if that's an important scene, then I'll request for perfection and request over and over again. The actor would be sure to hate me. However, when the movie screens in the cinema, the actor would sure be grateful to me. Because once we get the feel right, they'll move the audience, As the director's hard work though may be understood by some in the industry, those outside of the industry will not know. And when the audience sees the skilled acting of the actors, they will say that their acting has improved.

身为导演，演员给不给我功劳不重要，因为，只要影片整体好，我的作品没丢脸就是另一种满足了。
As a director, it doesn't matter if the actor gives me credit. So long as the movie is good overall, and I didn't lose face over my work, then it's another kind of satisfaction.

投资商的观赏过程，各种情绪都有，虽然他们不一定代表普通一般的观众，但是，他们的商业计算肯定有他们的理由，身为商业导演，我们多少要配合一些，最重要是，整体不要冷场，一定要紧凑好看。
The preview for the investors, carry lots of different mixed feelings. Although they may not represent the general audience, but I'm sure they must have their perception in terms of their commercial value. As a commercial movie director, we must more or less coordinate a bit. Most importantly, the overall production must not be awkward. It must be immensely appealing.

当然，三个小时的电影，几乎是铁答尼号的故事长度，于是，我告诉监制我有一个奇想，要是影片剪不到，短不了，我们就干脆推出两部，来个上下集，监制听了笑到嘴巴好久都没有合拢，我还以为他的下巴脱臼了，他认为这个建议很有创意也很新鲜，当然有创意啦，一个预算弄出两部电影，上集年尾庆圣诞，下集过年贺新岁（哟！竟然弄出一个对联），想到我们用下半部和周星驰的贺岁片对打，单单侮辱他也是一大乐事。（幼稚咯！）
But of course, a 3 hour movie is almost as long as the Titanic movie. Therefore, I told the producer I had a bright idea. If the film can't be edited or shortened, then we might as well make it into 2 parts; Part 1 and Part 2. The producer heard it and laughed until his mouth was so wide open. I thought he might have dislocated his jaw. He thinks that this is a very creative and brilliant idea. Of course brilliant idea lah, only 1 set of budget and managed to produce 2 movies. Part 1 to celebrate Christmas and Part 2 to usher in the Chinese New Year " 上集年尾庆圣诞，下集过年贺新岁" (Yo, I actually managed to compose a couplet in Chinese). The thought of using part 2 to compete head on with Stephen Chow's New Year movie, is such a humiliation to him, and that makes me happy. (So childish lor!)

回到正题吧，众人看了毛片，都有一些意见，最有共识的，肯定是要缩短。
Back to the main topic. Everyone who watched the draft cut had some opinions. And their common view is to shorten the movie.

窿的传人 My latest movie

这几天，埋头苦干，希望我的最新电影 "窿的传人 " 可以初剪完成，投资商和工作人员赶着看。
These few days, I've been buried in work. Hopefully the first edit of my latest movie " 窿的传人 " will completed soon. Investors and production crew can't wait to see it.

这是商业电影制作的一个过程，人家花了钱，总是要给人家看看钱花去哪里了。
This is one of the procedures of a commercial movie production. Those investors spend so much money, more or less have to show them what their money was spent on.

投资商看的是毛片，什么叫毛片呢？就是除了基本的台词和画面之外，没有音效没有特效没有调色也许还没有剪紧，影片可能会很松散的影片。
Investors will first see the draft cut. So what is draft cut? That means, except the basic stage lines and pictures, there are no sound effects, no special effects, no colour adjustments and perhaps not even shortened yet. The movie may probably even appear very slipshod.

剪接的时候，全天下的的导演都表现一样的，就是，自己辛苦拍的尽量保留不要丢场，结果影片搞到很长，而监制通常就不这样想，他们会从整体的角度来看这部影片。这包括影片上映的时长，如果是 90 分钟是最理想，看来好像容易做到，其实是不容易的，有时侯，一些演员临场神附身，越演越精彩，精彩到大家都下不了手，结果就很两头为难了。
During the editing, all directors alike, would hope that their hard work could be kept as much as possible, without too much scenes being edit away. Therefore, the movie was made way too long, and usually, producers would not be thinking the same way. They would look at the movie from an overall view. This includes the screening time. Ideally, it should be about 90 minutes. Sounds easy, but in fact, it's not. Sometimes the actors would suddenly act like they have been possessed by supernatural powers. They would become more and more enthusiastic in their role, so much so that no one could bring themselves to edit it. In the end, it just becomes a dilemma.

我们的电影计划在 11月中上映，根据一般的算法，时间非常紧逼，吐血的步伐正一步一步的逼近。。。
Our movie is scheduled to be screened in November. According to schedules, time-line is very tight. The tension and possibility of throwing up blood is getting higher.

文芳那天来电，吓我一跳，关心的问了这部影片剪好的效果，我告诉她，你一定要自己看，看了之后自己告诉我，害她心痒痒了整个晚上，哈哈哈，当导演就是这样，工作比所有人多，收工了，大家鸟兽散各奔东西了，有些演员已经接了两部电影，我还在剪片。。。不过，我的乐趣，很多人是不知道的，哈哈哈
Fann called me the other day and gave me a shock. She was very concerned about this movie, asking about how the editing is. I told her that she had to come see it herself, then come and tell me what she thinks about it. And she was indeed very tempted the whole night. Hahaha. This is what a director's job is all about. Has more work load than everyone else. Even after the wrap, and everyone has gone separate ways, some even taken up 2 new movies, I'm still editing the movie… But I do have my share of fun, and many people just don't realize. Hahaha.

虽然忙着后期，其他的工作还是要继续，前阵子，好多来自四面八方的中学高中和大专的学生都看得起我要访问我当成他们学校的作业，其实，我都不介意，很多人对我的工作很好奇，老实说，我也不介意和大家分享我的秘密，只要时间上配合得到，我都很乐意，去我们的大专学府和中学讲讲一些经验，我很享受和年轻人一起的时刻
Although I'm busy with the post production, other jobs still need to be done. Earlier, many students from secondary schools and the universities who think very highly of me, have asked for an interview as part of their school project. Actually, I really don't mind. Many people are very curious about my job. And honestly speaking, I don't mind sharing my secrets. As long as our schedules can fit, I would be most willing to go speak with our university and secondary school students about my experience. I enjoy spending time with youngsters.

这次来的年轻人，虽然当中有些人在访问我时，表现有些害羞，不过已经比以前好多了，至少有几个同学的问题很有深度，让我有些惊喜，比较失望的是，来的同学当中，很多都英文很好，都要求用英文发问，我因此和他们交换条件，我用中文回答，因为要我讲的准确一些，用中文我比较流利。
Some youngsters in this batch who interviewed me, appear to be quite shy, but much better than in the past. At least some of them have asked questions with depth, and that really surprised me. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed that amongst those students, many who were well versed in English also asked to conduct the interview in English. But I had to trade terms with them. I had to answer their questions in Mandarin. Because I wanted to give a more precise answer, and speaking in Mandarin would be more fluent.

一路来我们都在担心年轻人不爱发问，看着这些年轻人，我深信，在我们的推动下，会逐渐改的。。。
All this while, we were quite worried that youngsters these days would shy away from asking questions. Looking at this batch of youngsters, I strongly believe that with more motivation from us, they will definitely improve…

昨晚，找寻一些资料，意外发现到这个访问，是我们多年以前，访问钟耀南的一段录音，他唱了两首非常哀怨的监牢歌，歌词生动而且很有震撼力，我非常感动，跟大家分享，也让你认识，刚刚从监牢出来的阿南是何方神圣。。。

WHAT I DID when home 回家后

总觉得，每天都是过得很快。
Always felt that everyday passes very quickly.

每次自己太忙碌的时候，总是觉得时间飞逝很吓人，才起床，一转眼又半夜了。
Every time when I'm very busy, time seems to just fly past very scarily. It's like I've just woken up, and in a blink of an eye, it's already midnight.

最近在赶着剪接窿的传人，几乎每晚都去到接近 3 点。和小孩不笨2 里的情节一样，回到家，全世界都睡觉了，连家里养的鱼也睡得我以为它们已经死了。有时，我会俯首看看这些鱼，有时，这些鱼也跟我演戏，假装睡着了，我一转身就在我后面跳出水面，我就知道它们要宵夜，心情好，就伺候他们，心情不好，我就难得理它们，让他们作 " 饿梦 " 。
Recently I've been busy with editing the " 窿的传人". Almost every day worked till 3am. Exactly the same scenario as "I Not Stupid Too". By the time I get home, the whole world is asleep already. Even the fishes in my pond sleep like as though they have died. At times, I would flip the fishes a bit. And sometimes, they also put on an act, pretending to be fast asleep. And when I turn my back, they jump above the water. Then I'll know that they are hungry. If I'm in a good mood, I'll "serve" them. If not, then I leave them to have their "hungry dreams".

回到家，一定会很过意不去的到孩子的房间看看，他们全都睡找了，我会很自然的去跟他们盖被，就算被单明明已经盖得很好了，很奇怪，还是要再拉高一点，这种情况要是在拍戏，我自己一定会破口大骂 "CUT"! 因为演技生硬。。。
When I get home, I'll apologetically go look into the kids' room and find that they are all sleeping. Very naturally, I'll go pull the blankets over them. Even if the blankets are already covered over them, I'll still attempt to pull it up higher. If this had been a scene in my movie, I would have shouted "CUT"! Because the act just seems so fake…

天啊，很熟悉的情节对吗？你以为小孩不笨的创作灵感是那里来的。哈哈哈哈。
Gosh, very familiar scenario right? Well, where do you think I got the inspiration from for the movie "I Not Stupid"? Hahahaha…..

回到卧房，老婆早就不懂睡到那里去了，姿势有时后还很难看（千万不要告诉别人是我说的，哈哈），不过她没有打鼾的习惯我真的是三生修来的福，反而是我有打鼾的特异功能，我一直都不相信，直到有一天，她用录象机录下讨伐我，我才哑口无言（ got mouth no dialogue ）哈哈。
Going back into my own bedroom, my wife is also already in slumber land. And sometimes, the way she sleeps is really terrible (Pls don't tell anyone I said this! Hahaha). But luckily, she does not have a habit of snoring, and I am really thankful for that. However, I am the one with a super-power snore. I never believe it until one day, my wife video-taped and confronted me with it. I was literally "got mouth no dialogue" speechless. Hahaha.

其实，这些事情，每天都一样，动作台位台词都是完全一样。
Actually, these things are the same every day. Exactly the same action and same dialogue.

早上起来后，刷牙，剃胡子，上厕所，坐马桶，看着一样的墙壁，已经看了很多年同一个位子，有时侯会看地板，甚至那些地砖上的花纹，我都可以画出来了。
After I wake up in the morning, I brush my teeth, shave, go to the toilet, sit on the throne, and look at the same wall, and for many years, just looking at the same spot. Sometimes, I'll look on the floor. And the designs on the floor tiles, I can even draw them out.

然后，突然在想，要是有一天没胡子剃了，我应该会很不习惯，毕竟，剃胡子的事，也陪伴我如此多年，再无聊再乏味还是得做，也许，这种事情，我们来个 think out of the box 的做法。。。
Then when I suddenly just imagine that one day, I have no more beard to shave, I think I'll feel very uncomfortable. After all, this beard thing has been a part of me for so many years. No matter how boring or mundane, I still have to shave. Maybe I should just think out of the box and change the way of shaving.

不要剃胡子？不行啦，胡子是不需要问过主人就可以自由胡来的东西。
Don't shave? Cannot lah, the beard didn't have to ask for permission to mess around.

其实，我曾经用过不同的方式来剃胡子，因为嘛，人总是要做一些新鲜的事。
Actually, I did try different method of shaving, because people just need to try doing things sometimes.

买剃刀试过。。。
Bought a razor blade and tried…

流血咯。
Then bleed lor.

电动的不错啦，至少，动作不一样了。
Electric shavers are not bad lah. At least the action is different.
