下雨日记

昨天是一个很好笑的一天。

Yesterday was a really funny day.

紧张的约了陈建彬商谈一些合作事项，因为时间紧逼，还要赶着去另一个临时会议，于是请建彬在车上和我一起。

Urgently made an appointment with Marcus Chin to discuss some work matters, and because of tight schedules, as well as another urgent meeting to attend, I requested that Marcus join me in my car.

车上一路聊天很愉快，虽然外面下着很大的雨，可是我们的谈话始终很高调。

Although it was pouring outside, we still managed to have an enjoyable conversation in the car.

会议结束后，准备送建彬到电视台，因为他有972的一些户外宣传。习惯性的抄小路，那是一条很多电视台同事都会习惯的捷径。

After the meeting, I had to send Marcus back to Mediacorp because he had some other events with Love 97.2 to attend. So I took a short-cut. It was a route that many Mediacorp artistes would take.

转弯的时候，看到前面有一些积水，过去常常也发生，于是不以为意的开过去，冲到一半的时候。。。你看

Round a corner, I noticed a puddle of water. As it was common in the past, I just drove through it. But halfway through… see what happened…



还不知死活的时候，突然才发现到，水位已经来到这么深了。

And whilst I still didn’t realize the seriousness, I suddenly realized that the water level was already so deep.


看电影多了，突然发现四面八方都是水流很急的水正涌向我的车。。。
Like in the movies, I suddenly realized that there was just a lot of water flowing towards my car…


这张照片是我们弃车之后，回头看看我的宝贝，实在很心痛，不知道它最后会不会被大水全面淹没。。。

This picture was taken after we decided to abandon my car. Looking back at my baby, really heart-ache. Was really wondering if my car would have been totally submerged in the flood…

我现在人在上海，没有办法把我当场录下的一些片段和大家分享，是一个很好的体验，但是一次就够了，因为，我的车引擎进水，修理费可以买一个很好的手提电脑。

Right now I’m in Shanghai. Didn’t manage to share some videos which I had recorded. This is really a good experience, but hopefully just only this once. The repair cost to fix my car engine would probably be more than enough to buy a really good top-end laptop.

晕了。。。。

Fainted…

还有我的是手提电脑也进水，完蛋了，希望是破财消灾。

Even my laptop also drowned… That’s it… Hopefully this unexpected loss will be blessed with better luck..

about 881

对于这个号码，大家最近不断的在本地各大媒体上看到，就是因为这部电影目前炒得很火，口碑也很好。
This number keeps appearing everywhere in the local media (news, magazines and newspapers), because this movie is currently very hot. It had also gotten very good reviews.

其实，很难得终于可以看到本地的新导演有这样的成绩。
Actually, it's really a very rare chance for a local new director to have such good results.

一个国家要拥有电影工业，就是要制造一个电影圈，电影圈要存在，当然要有导演，在新加坡我认为至少应该有十个左右的商业导演和无数的艺术导演才可以造就新加坡的电影圈。
To have a movie empire in a country, one must first have a movie industry. For the movie industry to survive, there must of course be a director. In Singapore, I think there should be at least 10 or so commercial movie directors and many other art house directors in order to form a movie industry in Singapore.

过去十多年来，我们的电影成长得超级慢，很多本地新进导演都全军覆没，看到一个一个年轻人满怀热忱的找到一笔资金，在非常没有经验和市场概念的情况下上前线，在票房方面都战死沙场收场，其实，我也觉得很惋惜。
Our movie growth has been super slow in the past 10 years. Many new local directors have all flopped. Seeing all these hot blooded youngsters happily gotten hold of financing, approaching the market without any help or experience, in the end, all died in the battle-field of poor box office. I really do feel sorry for them.

多年来，很多观众都不断的支持我的电影，有记者说新加坡的电影圈好像是梁智强的个人游乐场，哈哈哈，这句话我也不知道怎么反应，不过从 881 的成功，大家可以看到一个事实，只要懂得捕抓故事，把故事讲好，要拍一部大家爱看的电影不是遥不可及的。
For many years, many audiences have supported my movies. Some reporters even said that the Singapore movie industry is like jack Neo's playground. Hahaha, I didn't even know how to react to that comment. But the success of 881 has just proven one thing. As long as you know how to catch the market, and tell the story well, it's not that difficult to make a good movie.

当然，记者最近也老是动不动就来电询问我关于对这部电影的看法，我是来者不拒，如果我的评语可以帮助到本地电影的票房，我绝对不会吝啬，因为栽培新进导演也是我来临的任务，我希望我可以栽培至少两个新的导演和电影编剧，训练更多对这方面有兴趣的人。
Recently there had been many reporters who've been calling me and asking my opinion on this movie. I didn't turn them away, because if my comments can help a local movie box office, I definitely won't stinge on it. To foster new and upcoming directors are my new responsibilities. I hope I can cultivate at least 2 new directors and script writers, as well as train all who are interested in this industry.

每一部再烂的电影都有它好的地方，每一部好的电影都要一些时间成长，要懂得把握第一次是非常重要的，
For every bad movie, there would still be good parts. And every good movie will need time to grow. And to be able to make the best out of the first time, is very important.

媒体 如何给新的导演鼓励，是一门学问，不是每个媒体都愿意这么做的。
It takes a lot of skill to be able to give encouragement to a new director. And not every media-source are willing to do that.

懂得鼓励新近导演也是对本地电影工业的一个小小贡献。
Knowing how to encourage these new directors will definitely inject some form of contribution to the local movie industry.

881 我的估计，一开始就是过150 万可以逼近200 万，现在，各个媒体都在竞相加入煮炒，突破250 万是指日可待。
I'm guessing that 881 can gross 1.5 million in box office and could possibly hit 2 million as well. And the media are also trying to add coal to the fire by saying that it could break 2.5 million.

希望它可以最终冲破300 万，干掉所有的海外电影。。。cheers!!!
Let's hope it can break 3 million instead and beat all other imported movies hands down… cheers!!!

阿南的光碟

这几天，修改 " 窿的传人" 版本，同样是没日没夜。
These few days, due to the editing process of " 窿的传人", I'm still working "no day no night" (round the clock).

对于三个小时的初剪大家似乎很心痛我删减。其实我的每部电影都会拍长一些来修建，不是因为我要浪费，而是，很多时候一些场面，现场拍摄和回来剪接配合整体链接起来，效果是很不一样的。
Regarding the draft cut being 3 hrs long, many of you seem to feel "heart-ache" tht I need to shorten it. Actually, in every one of my movies, I will always film it a little longer so that I can edit it. Not that I want to waste it, but at times, many scenes, during the actual filming and during editing to make up the scene, the effects are totally different.

我不知道其他拍摄短片和电影的人是不是和我一样的遭遇。
I'm not sure if other short film makers or movie directors have the same problem as I'm facing.

我很希望可以把这部影片通通放上去给大家观赏，都已经拍了嘛，问题是，太长，有时候是会不集中和闷场的，所以身为导演的任务就是确保最好的给大家，不应该不好的也硬塞给你们。
I really hope I can show the complete movie to all of you. After all, it's already been filmed mah. But the problem is, too long. Sometimes the movie may appear to be not focused and may bore all of you. so, my job as a director is to ensure what i give is the most interesting one..

星期六，我们为阿南制作了一个光碟，“阿南脱口秀” 邀请来了一些很专业的歌手上他的节目，希望我们可以帮助他出狱后，很好的重出江湖。
The other day, we made a VCD for Ah Nan.（Ah Nan Talk show） Invited some very professional singers to appear in the programme. Hopefully, we can help his career after he released from jail .

投资商看毛片 INVESTORS PREVIEW

窿的传人，终于在几个不眠不休的夜晚冲刺后，大功告成了。。。
After countless sleepless nights of rush job, " 窿的传人" is finally completed.

这个大功告成是影片第一个初剪版的完成，真正的工作还没有开始呐。。。
But this completed job is only the first cut edition. The actual job is not totally completed leh…

这个投资商的预演，其实就是一个毛片的观赏。当年钱不够用完成后，很多看了毛片的人都说很好看，当时我还以为朋友客气，后来证明，钱不够用的导演（是郑德禄，不是我）剪接功力和情节的拿捏，出神入化，一次剪完就成了 584 万元票房的定局版。
This preview for the investors is actually just a draft cut preview. Some years ago, when "Money Not Enough" was completed, many people who watched the draft cut preview commented that it was very good. At that time, I thought it was just friends who were trying to be polite. After that, I realized that the director of "Money Not Enough" (who was " 郑德禄 " and not me) was extremely skilled in editing and understanding the movie. Once cut ended up with a SGD 5.84 million box office.

我说过，看毛片是必须具备想像力的，因为很多音效特效都没在里面，不会看的人会满头雾水，不过，如果一般人若把毛片也看得津津有味，对于导演制片来说，肯定是一个大好消息。
As I said before, watching the draft cut requires some kind of imagination. Because a lot of sound effects and special effects are not there. Those who don't know will be quite blur. However, if the general audience watched the draft cut and enjoy it very much, then it will definitely be good news to the director and producer.

不说各位也许不知道，窿的传人，初剪版， 3 个小时，我自己也晕倒了，很感谢受邀观赏的人，只是上了一次厕所。
Maybe all of you didn't know, but, " 窿的传人", draft cut, was 3 hours, I also nearly fainted. I'm very grateful to those who came for the preview and only went to the toilet once!

我拍戏有一些自己的方式，也许有些人不是很喜欢，例如我会现场修改台词，让台词更具震撼力，如果发现一些情节在演员的表演下未能达到效果，我肯定不会坐视不理，一定会加入一些盐和醋，这个就是时间的消耗和预算的增加，要是碰到一个演员抓不到我要的感觉（真想死给他看），若这部分是重要的，我一定会务求完美的要求又要求，演员当时肯定恨我，可是在戏院放映的时候，他们一定会感激我，因为，把表情弄对了，震撼了观众，导演背后的苦心也许圈内人知道一些，圈外是没有多少人会去理会的，而观众看了演员的精湛演出，肯定称赞演员 " 演技进步了" 。
I have my own style when it comes to filming a movie. Perhaps some people may not like it. For example, I may change the script and lines on the spot so that it will have a greater impact. If I see that some actors are not able to achieve the effects required, I can't just sit there and do nothing. I'll sure add salt and vinegar. And this is what leads to extra time and costs. If the actor can't catch the feel that I'm expecting (then I will feel like hanging myself), and if that's an important scene, then I'll request for perfection and request over and over again. The actor would be sure to hate me. However, when the movie screens in the cinema, the actor would sure be grateful to me. Because once we get the feel right, they'll move the audience, As the director's hard work though may be understood by some in the industry, those outside of the industry will not know. And when the audience sees the skilled acting of the actors, they will say that their acting has improved.

身为导演，演员给不给我功劳不重要，因为，只要影片整体好，我的作品没丢脸就是另一种满足了。
As a director, it doesn't matter if the actor gives me credit. So long as the movie is good overall, and I didn't lose face over my work, then it's another kind of satisfaction.

投资商的观赏过程，各种情绪都有，虽然他们不一定代表普通一般的观众，但是，他们的商业计算肯定有他们的理由，身为商业导演，我们多少要配合一些，最重要是，整体不要冷场，一定要紧凑好看。
The preview for the investors, carry lots of different mixed feelings. Although they may not represent the general audience, but I'm sure they must have their perception in terms of their commercial value. As a commercial movie director, we must more or less coordinate a bit. Most importantly, the overall production must not be awkward. It must be immensely appealing.

当然，三个小时的电影，几乎是铁答尼号的故事长度，于是，我告诉监制我有一个奇想，要是影片剪不到，短不了，我们就干脆推出两部，来个上下集，监制听了笑到嘴巴好久都没有合拢，我还以为他的下巴脱臼了，他认为这个建议很有创意也很新鲜，当然有创意啦，一个预算弄出两部电影， 上集年尾庆圣诞，下集过年贺新岁 （哟！竟然弄出一个对联），想到我们用下半部和周星驰的贺岁片对打，单单侮辱他也是一大乐事。（幼稚咯！）
But of course, a 3 hour movie is almost as long as the Titanic movie. Therefore, I told the producer I had a bright idea. If the film can't be edited or shortened, then we might as well make it into 2 parts; Part 1 and Part 2. The producer heard it and laughed until his mouth was so wide open. I thought he might have dislocated his jaw. He thinks that this is a very creative and brilliant idea. Of course brilliant idea lah, only 1 set of budget and managed to produce 2 movies. Part 1 to celebrate Christmas and Part 2 to usher in the Chinese New Year " 上集年尾庆圣诞，下集过年贺新岁" (Yo, I actually managed to compose a couplet in Chinese). The thought of using part 2 to compete head on with Stephen Chow's New Year movie, is such a humiliation to him, and that makes me happy. (So childish lor!)

回到正题吧，众人看了毛片，都有一些意见，最有共识的，肯定是要缩短。
Back to the main topic. Everyone who watched the draft cut had some opinions. And their common view is to shorten the movie.

我必须要缩短影片，缩短的同时还要紧凑精彩容易入戏。

窿的传人 My latest movie

这几天，埋头苦干，希望我的最新电影 "窿的传人 " 可以初剪完成，投资商和工作人员赶着看。
These few days, I've been buried in work. Hopefully the first edit of my latest movie " 窿的传人 " will completed soon. Investors and production crew can't wait to see it.

这是商业电影制作的一个过程，人家花了钱，总是要给人家看看钱花去哪里了。
This is one of the procedures of a commercial movie production. Those investors spend so much money, more or less have to show them what their money was spent on.


投资商看的是毛片，什么叫毛片呢？就是除了基本的台词和画面之外，没有音效没有特效没有调色也许还没有剪紧，影片可能会很松散的影片。
Investors will first see the draft cut. So what is draft cut? That means, except the basic stage lines and pictures, there are no sound effects, no special effects, no colour adjustments and perhaps not even shortened yet. The movie may probably even appear very slipshod.

剪接的时候，全天下的的导演都表现一样的，就是，自己辛苦拍的尽量保留不要丢场，结果影片搞到很长，而监制通常就不这样想，他们会从整体的角度来看这部影片。这包括影片上映的时长，如果是 90 分钟是最理想，看来好像容易做到，其实是不容易的，有时侯，一些演员临场神附身，越演越精彩，精彩到大家都下不了手，结果就很两头为难了。
During the editing, all directors alike, would hope that their hard work could be kept as much as possible, without too much scenes being edit away. Therefore, the movie was made way too long, and usually, producers would not be thinking the same way. They would look at the movie from an overall view. This includes the screening time. Ideally, it should be about 90 minutes. Sounds easy, but in fact, it's not. Sometimes the actors would suddenly act like they have been possessed by supernatural powers. They would become more and more enthusiastic in their role, so much so that no one could bring themselves to edit it. In the end, it just becomes a dilemma.

我们的电影计划在 11月中上映，根据一般的算法，时间非常紧逼，吐血的步伐正一步一步的逼近。。。
Our movie is scheduled to be screened in November. According to schedules, time-line is very tight. The tension and possibility of throwing up blood is getting higher.

文芳那天来电，吓我一跳，关心的问了这部影片剪好的效果，我告诉她，你一定要自己看，看了之后自己告诉我，害她心痒痒了整个晚上，哈哈哈，当导演就是这样，工作比所有人多，收工了，大家鸟兽散各奔东西了，有些演员已经接了两部电影，我还在剪片。。。不过，我的乐趣，很多人是不知道的，哈哈哈
Fann called me the other day and gave me a shock. She was very concerned about this movie, asking about how the editing is. I told her that she had to come see it herself, then come and tell me what she thinks about it. And she was indeed very tempted the whole night. Hahaha. This is what a director's job is all about. Has more work load than everyone else. Even after the wrap, and everyone has gone separate ways, some even taken up 2 new movies, I'm still editing the movie… But I do have my share of fun, and many people just don't realize. Hahaha.

虽然忙着后期，其他的工作还是要继续，前阵子，好多来自四面八方的中学高中和大专的学生都看得起我要访问我当成他们学校的作业，其实，我都不介意，很多人对我的工作很好奇，老实说，我也不介意和大家分享我的秘密，只要时间上配合得到，我都很乐意，去我们的大专学府和中学讲讲一些经验，我很享受和年轻人一起的时刻
Although I'm busy with the post production, other jobs still need to be done. Earlier, many students from secondary schools and the universities who think very highly of me, have asked for an interview as part of their school project. Actually, I really don't mind. Many people are very curious about my job. And honestly speaking, I don't mind sharing my secrets. As long as our schedules can fit, I would be most willing to go speak with our university and secondary school students about my experience. I enjoy spending time with youngsters.

这次来的年轻人，虽然当中有些人在访问我时，表现有些害羞，不过已经比以前好多了，至少有几个同学的问题很有深度，让我有些惊喜，比较失望的是，来的同学当中，很多都英文很好，都要求用英文发问，我因此和他们交换条件，我用中文回答，因为要我讲的准确一些，用中文我比较流利。
Some youngsters in this batch who interviewed me, appear to be quite shy, but much better than in the past. At least some of them have asked questions with depth, and that really surprised me. On the other hand, I was a little disappointed that amongst those students, many who were well versed in English also asked to conduct the interview in English. But I had to trade terms with them. I had to answer their questions in Mandarin. Because I wanted to give a more precise answer, and speaking in Mandarin would be more fluent.

一路来我们都在担心年轻人不爱发问，看着这些年轻人，我深信，在我们的推动下，会逐渐改的。。。
All this while, we were quite worried that youngsters these days would shy away from asking questions. Looking at this batch of youngsters, I strongly believe that with more motivation from us, they will definitely improve…

JUST FOUND OUT FROM MY VERY OLD ALBUM..

昨晚，找寻一些资料，意外发现到这个访问，是我们多年以前，访问钟耀南的一段录音，他唱了两首非常哀怨的监牢歌，歌词生动而且很有震撼力，我非常感动，跟大家分享，也让你认识，刚刚从监牢出来的阿南是何方神圣。。。

WHAT I DID when home 回家后

总觉得，每天都是过得很快。
Always felt that everyday passes very quickly.

每次自己太忙碌的时候，总是觉得时间飞逝很吓人，才起床，一转眼又半夜了。
Every time when I'm very busy, time seems to just fly past very scarily. It's like I've just woken up, and in a blink of an eye, it's already midnight.

最近在赶着剪接窿的传人，几乎每晚都去到接近 3 点。和小孩不笨2 里的情节一样，回到家，全世界都睡觉了，连家里养的鱼也睡得我以为它们已经死了。有时，我会俯首看看这些鱼，有时，这些鱼也跟我演戏，假装睡着了，我一转身就在我后面跳出水面，我就知道它们要宵夜，心情好，就伺候他们，心情不好，我就难得理它们，让他们作 " 饿梦 " 。
Recently I've been busy with editing the " 窿的传人". Almost every day worked till 3am. Exactly the same scenario as "I Not Stupid Too". By the time I get home, the whole world is asleep already. Even the fishes in my pond sleep like as though they have died. At times, I would flip the fishes a bit. And sometimes, they also put on an act, pretending to be fast asleep. And when I turn my back, they jump above the water. Then I'll know that they are hungry. If I'm in a good mood, I'll "serve" them. If not, then I leave them to have their "hungry dreams".

回到家，一定会很过意不去的到孩子的房间看看，他们全都睡找了，我会很自然的去跟他们盖被，就算被单明明已经盖得很好了，很奇怪，还是要再拉高一点，这种情况要是在拍戏，我自己一定会破口大骂 "CUT"! 因为演技生硬。。。
When I get home, I'll apologetically go look into the kids' room and find that they are all sleeping. Very naturally, I'll go pull the blankets over them. Even if the blankets are already covered over them, I'll still attempt to pull it up higher. If this had been a scene in my movie, I would have shouted "CUT"! Because the act just seems so fake…

天啊，很熟悉的情节对吗？你以为小孩不笨的创作灵感是那里来的。哈哈哈哈。
Gosh, very familiar scenario right? Well, where do you think I got the inspiration from for the movie "I Not Stupid"? Hahahaha…..

回到卧房，老婆早就不懂睡到那里去了，姿势有时后还很难看（千万不要告诉别人是我说的，哈哈），不过她没有打鼾的习惯我真的是三生修来的福，反而是我有打鼾的特异功能，我一直都不相信，直到有一天，她用录象机录下讨伐我，我才哑口无言（ got mouth no dialogue ）哈哈。
Going back into my own bedroom, my wife is also already in slumber land. And sometimes, the way she sleeps is really terrible (Pls don't tell anyone I said this! Hahaha). But luckily, she does not have a habit of snoring, and I am really thankful for that. However, I am the one with a super-power snore. I never believe it until one day, my wife video-taped and confronted me with it. I was literally "got mouth no dialogue" speechless. Hahaha.

其实，这些事情，每天都一样，动作台位台词都是完全一样。
Actually, these things are the same every day. Exactly the same action and same dialogue.

早上起来后，刷牙，剃胡子，上厕所，坐马桶，看着一样的墙壁，已经看了很多年同一个位子，有时侯会看地板，甚至那些地砖上的花纹，我都可以画出来了。
After I wake up in the morning, I brush my teeth, shave, go to the toilet, sit on the throne, and look at the same wall, and for many years, just looking at the same spot. Sometimes, I'll look on the floor. And the designs on the floor tiles, I can even draw them out.

然后，突然在想，要是有一天没胡子剃了，我应该会很不习惯，毕竟，剃胡子的事，也陪伴我如此多年，再无聊再乏味还是得做，也许，这种事情，我们来个 think out of the box 的做法。。。
Then when I suddenly just imagine that one day, I have no more beard to shave, I think I'll feel very uncomfortable. After all, this beard thing has been a part of me for so many years. No matter how boring or mundane, I still have to shave. Maybe I should just think out of the box and change the way of shaving.

不要剃胡子？不行啦，胡子是不需要问过主人就可以自由胡来的东西。
Don't shave? Cannot lah, the beard didn't have to ask for permission to mess around.

其实，我曾经用过不同的方式来剃胡子，因为嘛，人总是要做一些新鲜的事。
Actually, I did try different method of shaving, because people just need to try doing things sometimes.

买剃刀试过。。。
Bought a razor blade and tried…

流血咯。
Then bleed lor.

电动的不错啦，至少，动作不一样了。
Electric shavers are not bad lah. At least the action is different.

这几天，在忙着很多事情，因为公司一位老同事走了，总是有很多事情要亲自分配。

搞了半天，我的电影“窿的传人”（triad Ltd.）的offline剪片移来新加坡剪接，现在开始在看片，还好有一个专业的剪接师帮我，希望完整初版可以在最快时间出来。

先给大家看看其中一些照片。

很多当年的朋友都在问，十几年前，我推出的当兵专辑很受大家的支持，还有吗？老实说，有些还在，有些坏了。。。
Many of my old friends are asking, the Army Days series that I introduced more than 10 years ago, were very popular. Do I still have it?
Honestly, I still have them, but some are spoilt...

This is my first album...这就是我的第一张军人写真！内容都是和阿兵哥的喜怒哀乐有关。
不知道网友当中，谁还有，你们记得多少？
I wonder how many of you net pals out there still have it, and how much of the series do you remember?

第一张唱片，记得当时，我自掏腰包花了4千元制作费（不包括我的唱酬和歌词费），还请了当今很出名的编曲（当时也一样在起步的阶段）帮忙，当时没有现在的电脑录音和剪接，传统的录法。
My first album. At that time, I had to fork out SGD 4,000.00 in production fee (excluding my recording and lyrics fees), and also requested the help and services of a well-known composer's (who was also just starting up at that time) help. During those days, there was no computerised recording nor editing. Everything was done the traditional way.

录了之后，没有任何一家唱片公司有兴趣，我差点撞墙，后来找到一个，当年算是很有分析力的年轻唱片公司老板，因为他也当过兵，他觉得很有趣，但是很担心国防部会叫他去问话，后来，还是勇气可嘉（xi sua死了算了）的心态，勇往直前。
After recording, none of the record companies were interested at all. I was utterly disappointed planing to bang wall. Then I came across a company, with a young and analytical boss. Because he also went to the army, can feel that my album was very interesting. However, he was worried Ministry of Defence might start irritate him, with a courageous (die-die just do it) attitude, finally he gaga went ahead to produce it. 结果，买个满堂红，大约两万多张，笑到他带着钱上银行。。。我呢，总算创出一个名堂，当然，卖得那么好，那个老板也没有包红包给我，哈哈哈。。。 命苦啦。。。唯一的奖励是，继续帮我推出第二张军人写真。。。
The result, the album sold like hotcakes. Approximately 20,000 copies, and the boss laughed all the way to the bank... As for me, at least I made a name for myself. And although the album did very well, the boss didn't give me a red packet, hahaha... And my reward was, to continue producing my second album...
这个就是我的第二张。。。
我因为收到第一张热卖狂卖的鼓舞，idea和灵感如泉涌，写了很多内容，程度上更够力！几乎把我多年来在军队里的观察宁可杀错不可放过的通通轰出来，结果一张一小时的专辑挤不下，于是，干脆，一不做二不休，弄成两个卡带，当时我很洋洋得意的称为，双龙出海。
Because of the success of my first album, lots of ideas and inspiration came gushing like a waterfall. I wrote a lot , almost everything that happened during my tour in the army. den realised that ,one hour is not enough for a cassettes, so....no choice la,make it two hours (same as movie length) become 2 cassettes .hahahaha... And I proudly name it "Emergence of 2 dragons" (双龙出海). 推出后，狂卖4万多套，两个卡带是一套，根据浩练一点和宠爱自己的算法，这张唱片，卖了接近9万个卡带，哈哈哈。。。老板赚到笑，赚多少我不知道，我只拿该拿的酬劳，同样的是，我没有获得任何红包。。。命苦啦
After the launch of the second album, it sold 40,000 copies. Both cassettes in a set. And in a haolian(proud) and self-comforting mentality, this album sold close to 90,000 copies, hahaha... but only boss made money,i only collected what we agreed ,that all...what to do?

孙燕姿，林俊杰，阿杜又怎样，人家我，要是根据唱片界的算法，我臭臭都可以拿"白金""黄金"还是"黑金"唱片了。当时我的唱片公司也颁了给我白金唱片在我的婚礼晚宴上，双喜临门，等下我叫老婆找一下当年的照片，有的话，给大家看看我的第一次，也是唯一一次拿的唱片大奖。 933当年没有报导，因为，933当时还没有成立，但是有的话，我相信我的这种唱片不属于流行歌曲种类的，933应该不会有报导。所以，当时卖的如此好的专辑，知道的人也不多。不过，对于很多当年支持我的歌迷，一定记忆犹新当时很多当兵的人还有他们的女友都在谈论着这个专辑，无论如何，这些歌曲，陪很多人度过了很多寂寞的军队生活和童年吧。。。
So what if it was Stephanie Sun, JJ Lin Jun Jie or Ah Du. If I, thinking along the same lines as the record industry, would have easily gotten a "Platinum" , "gold" or "Bronze" record already. The record company at that time, also awarded me with a platinum record . Oh yes, later I get my wife to look for that "awarding receiving" photo. If I can find it, I'll show all of you my "first time". also the only time I got a music award. Yes 933FM didn't report that award either, because I think Yes 933FM didn't exist yet. Even if they had existed, this album was not under the pop songs categories either. Therefore ,album sold very well, but not many people knew about it. But still, I strongly believe, many fans who supported me during those times, would still vividly remember, those songs had accompanied you during your lonely childhood and Army days....


跟着就是第三张。第三张也卖的不错，不过没有超越第二张，但是制作水平更趋向专业化。
Following that, came the third album... this third one ,din do better then the second one... also not bad la,production is higher standard...

这是正面，因为是以军人写真为卖点。this is the front side.













这个是背面，其实在摊位摆卖的时候，正面背面没有差别，很多地方都是两边摆，因为当时胖子林益民也很手欢迎。尤其是当时的办公室政治的短剧，笑死大家的那个yoyoyo阿肥。。。当时很多人都经常在日常生活上使用这句口头禅。
this one looks like back side,actually both can be front side...as moses Lim was very famous too..remember the Ah Fat role, his yoyoyoyo...so many ppl like to use it during the normal conversation...

榴莲宴

吃榴莲是我的最爱！

我住的这一区，每年村长都会安排一次这样的聚会，大家一起出点钱，然后买了很多榴莲，大家什么都不用带，就带一个空肚子和一张嘴巴，去享用所有的榴莲。The estate I live in has an annual gathering like this. The committee chairman will organise for everyone to make a small contribution, and then buy lots of durians. Everyone just needs to bring their empty stomach and mouth there to enjoy all the durians.

这个就是让人垂涎欲滴的榴莲了。。。This, is what makes one drool with envy... DURIANS!

当然，除了榴莲之外，山竹也不落人后，随后登场让我们吃掉它。。。理由是。。。因为它是榴莲的原配。。。想不到吧，哈哈哈。。。And of course, other than durians, mangosteens are also not forgotten. Appearing after the durians only to get eaten by us. Reason... because it's a perfect match with the durians! Didn't know right? Hahaha...

榴莲，是热带的水果，是万果之王，你看它的那个外形就知道了Durians are a tropical fruit. It's the king of all fruits. Look at the outer shell and you will know.

坚硬的短刺，具有一定的杀伤力，那可不是摆美的，短刺的霸气，令人望而生畏，单单这样，水果中，脸皮最厚的椰子也识时务不敢争做王，其他的水果只好安分度过余生了。Short and sharp spikes, they do pose a threat. It's not just for show. Those short, sharp and forbidding thorns will leave you terrified. Just based on that, even the coconut, amongst all other fruits, who has the thickest skin/shell, knows that it's no where near the king of fruits. As for the other fruits, they'll just have to accept fate and remain as just fruits.

榴莲的老婆山竹，也不是指腹为婚不合逻辑的废物，它今天可以成为榴莲的老婆是靠实力的，因为榴莲的霸气特质，使到享用它之后，吃客体内会燥热，吃多了，吃客也许会因为燥热而带来一些病变，而山竹的凉性刚好可以抵消榴莲的霸气，所以吃客吃完榴莲后，记得，一定要上它的老婆，才可避免燥热，取得平衡。The "wife" of the durian, the mangosteen, is not just blindly married to the druian. It has relied on it's own capabilities in being a perfect match with the durian. Because of the "characteristics" of the durian, after a person eats it, you will develop some heatiness. If you eat too much, you may fall sick. However, the mangosteens has "cooling" effects. Therefore, it counters the heatiness of the durians. So, after eating durians, do remember to go for the "wife", the mangosteen. This will help balance the heatiness and cooling effect.

不要以为我只会吃而已，我也会开，哈哈，其实我就只开一粒而已。我的邻居，很多都很会开榴莲，而且开的很快，我只好配合人家，我负责吃，他们负责开。。。 Don't think I only know how to eat. I also know how to open, hahaha. Actually, I opened only 1! Most of my neighbours know how to open durians. And they can do it very fast. So I had to do some co-ordination. They were in charge of opening the durians, and I was in charge of eating.../p>

第一次上国际的电视，很多朋友都打来替我道贺。

访问的内容相当过瘾，不过本来我要求用华语回答，我可以讲得更仔细一些，用英文回答，老实说，句子的组织会比较不完美一些，文法也凌乱多了。

It was my first time on international TV. Many friends called to congratulate me. The topic during the interview was quite
interesting. Initially, I requested to answer in Mandarin, so that i could answer in more details. But having to answer in English,
 frankly, made the sentences I formed seem not complete and disorganised.

访问的内容是：我的电影如此多对社会和政府的批评，如何可以过关。我是如何开始了演戏导演的工作？和我对singlish的看法。
The topic was: Since my films were so targeted at mocking the  society & government. How did I get around censorship ? How did i start my career as an actor & film director, and what was my opinion on Singlish.

我的这个动作是在告诉她，很多新加坡人在以前都不敢乱批评政府，因为first thing come to our mind 是，我会不会惹祸上身？

This action of mine was telling the reporter, many Singaporeans in the past never dared comment about our government, because the first thing that came to our minds were, would we get into trouble?

今天，好高兴看到一个老朋友来我的博客。
I'm delighted today that an old friend came to visit my blog

竟然是欧菁仙。
it is none other than sharon au!

今天看到报纸才知道，她刚刚从日本的地震中逃过劫数，天啊，真的是替她捏了一把冷汗。
I just found out from the papers today that she escaped from an earthquake in japan... gosh! that was really a close shave!

不过我知道，她通常是吉人天相。于是就上去看看她的博客，感觉还不错，很多最新的样子，竟然，还有日语的内容，现在她可厉害了，几种语言精通，流利的华英语，加上日语，不过我还是没有输她太远，我的福建话肯定比她好！哈哈哈。
However, i know that she has always been blessed. Therefore, I went to take a look at her blog. It looks really good, full of creativity and interesting ideas and she even wrote in Japanese! She's really smart now, well versed in a few languages, including her fluency in chinese, and now, even japanese! But, I don't think I lose out to her by a wide margin, well, at least my Hokkien is better than her! Haha...

今天刚刚录了搞笑至尊回来，笑死我了。看到幕都那个印度保安人员还有老查某，就要笑了，今年的搞笑录了一段部长来咖啡店访问，大家忙的不可开交。
just finished recording 'World of laughs' today, and it really tickles me... Seeing Muthu the Indian security guard and 'lao zha bor' really makes me laugh. The episode filmed today has a section in which the minister came by to the coffee shop for an visit, making everyone really busy!

有些网友提了一些宝贵意见，有些认为有些胡闹，老实说，昨天的搞笑，有很多讽刺性的内容，例如我的梁导讲片话（jack neo films talk）就是一个我要讽刺一些电影的单元。
Some of you have provided me valuable feedback. Some thought that the content was too slapstick , honestly ,yesterday's episode had a lot of sarcastic comments, for example, my 'jack neo films talk', which was designed to poke fun at some movies.

其实，经过这么多年之后，我仍然很关注观众比较喜欢的搞笑内容是什么，我知道，只要可以让大家开心的笑，也是观众要的，可是怎样的笑话才可以全面吸引现在这个面对多媒体挑战的环境。
Actually, after so many years, I’m still very concerned about which types of comedy the audience like. I know that as long as I can get the audience to laugh, it means I’ve met your requirements. But what kind of humour does it take to be able to attract the attention all-round in this highly competitive media environment.

我们有时后做节目是很矛盾的，我们希望讲多一些有内容的，可是观众会认为说教，于是就多一些搞笑的，一不小心，又越线了。以前的年代，真的是和现在很大不一样的年代。以前了解的，现在还得重新研究和学习，毕竟，新一代的年轻人，接触面不象以前局限在新加坡，现在的接触面是全世界的咨讯。。。
It’s sometimes very ironical for us when doing a program. Because whilst we would like to present more in-depth details, some audience may think we are preaching. So we add a little more humour to the segment, but somehow end up over-doing it by accident. Things are really different comparing the past and present years. Things that we understood in the past, must now be reviewed and studied again,After all, the new generation has more media exposure worldwide, rather than like in the past, only restricted to within Singapore.

This photo shares with you the atmosphere in the recording studio. Due to the overwhelming 'cold' and lifeless equipments that the actors have to face, some of the actors become really stressed. The slightly plump guy you see is my trusty assistant, who is also the creative director of my company. This is his expression when he is rehearsing...

其实，每天睡觉前，上来看看我的博客已经上一种习惯，心情是很难描写的，因为每天都有不一样的内容等着吓我和惊喜我，这就是让我无法自拔的理由了，最希望和祈祷的是，访客不要越来越少。。。
Actually, it has already become a habit for me to come online to take a look at my blog before i sleep every night. It is very hard to describe such a feeling. Everyday there will be different kinds of content waiting to surprise and amaze me.
And that, is the exact reason why i am unable to resist the temptation to come online. The only thing that i feverently pray and hope for, is that the number of visitors to my blog will not decrease.

目前，几个重要工作缠身的我（搞笑至尊的制作，窿的传人后期剪片还没完成3分1，还有其他的一些影视制作），真的没办法每天都把我碰到的感想和喜怒哀乐一一写下和大家分享，真要这样就得赔上我的老命了。
Currently, I am bogged down with so much work ( firstly, it is the filming of World of Laughs(搞笑至尊). The completion of the film editing for my new movie 窿的传人 STORY OF NEW GEN LOAN SHARK, is in fact less than 1/3. There are also other filming works that occupies the remnant of my time),Thus, i am really not able to share with all the supporters of my blog, every detail of the emotions and thoughts that i experienced everyday. If indeed i were to do that, i would probably have to pay for that with my life.

不过，每回看到各位网友的留言，我是很兴奋的，可惜愿意好好留几句话给我的人不多，不过，只要你来访了，咱们继续维这种贴心的关系，你们已经算是尽了人事，我，还夫复何求？
However, i am really very excited everytime i read the messages from my supporters. What a pity, there are few visitors who are willing to leave a message for me. 对于一些网友要求我的博客也有英语的翻译，其实我也很乐意照顾更多来自世界各地不同国家不同语言的网友，可惜的是，之前一直帮助我翻译，同时翻译的和我一样传神的网友突然音讯杳然不知所踪，写了电邮，也没回音，我其实是热锅上的蚂蚁，真的很抱歉那些支持我又无法理解中文的网友。。。
Regarding the requests from some of my blog's supporters for an english translation of my blog posts, i have to say that i will be glad to take into consideration the different ethnic backgrounds of all visitors with various linguistic capabilities. Regretfully, the translator friend who have been doing an excellent job translating my blog posts,has suddenly missing in action. There have been absolutely no news and no traces, even e-mails to him yielded no replies. I am like "ants on a hot-pot", panic and frenzy taking over me. I would like to apologize to all vistors and supporters of my blog, who are not able to understand mandarin.

日子就是这样，已经过了很久了。。。现在的他们都长得比我高大。。。。很怀念他们年纪小的时候，来到成人世界之后，挑战和诱惑到处都是。。。

long ago liao...now they are taller then me...really missed them when whey were just kids..now they have grown up...

不久前，收到中国上海一些老师看了小孩不笨2之后的一些感言，我是又开心又伤心。

这是其中一些老师的观后感。而这间中学本身也很重视赏识教育。

Not long, receive letter from china shanghai got few teachers after watching I not stupid too and their expression, I feel happy and sad.
This are few teachers opinion. And this secondary also take much consideration in education.







开心的是，我的电影作品如此受到赏识和重视，当然要开心咯，而伤心的是，这部片，在中国，那么多人要看想看，我们也作了多方面的尝试，就是无法在中国顺利上映，这是非常遗憾的事。
Happy is that, my movie production is being appreacted, Of course must be happy, and sadness is that this movie in china many people want to watch, we did make an effort but unable to cast in china, this is one of the regret.

真希望，中国方面有人会看到，明白这部电影若在中国上映，可以为中国父母和孩子带来超量的惊醒。
Hopefully, china people may get to see, and understand this movie if cast in china, can help china parent and children bring surprise.
